Just Another Day Of War

Just Another Day Of War

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A clash of the Titans

Is all the rage upon the world’s stage.

When entertainment is cheap

The price is too high to pay.

Betting on the condor

While the plane disintegrates

Is why angels are afraid to fly.

Watching a zebra verses a lion

Is the norm on family night

Yet the mystery remains

Of why red is in every school’s colors.

The tradition of generations

Passing on wisdom to the youth

Is full steam in reverse.

A coin in the wishing well

Is as useful as a rabbit

Pulled out of a hat,

The applause creates an echo

As hollow as the beer cans

From yesterday’s celebration

Of a leader’s death.

It seems, sometimes, that we've become so accustomed to violence and the likes that we just accept it... which should not be the case at all...
I also liked the point you made about the colour red.
A thought provoking piece and wonderfully written.

Nice use of metaphors, I was a bit clueless to the message at first but thats just how i am today. Eventually after reading the whole thing the message was loud and clear. Nicely done, Dale. Wonderfully written.

Such a good message you put out here. " Betting on the condor While the plane disintegrates Is why angels are afraid to fly. " All the metaphors you use, are to the point. These tragedical things always make me think, we should be more loving in the world.

You have penned well the horrors that we as humans watch and just go on as if it is no big deal. It is almost as if we encourage violence and war.

I thought war was norm being raised in the sixties with Vietnam. Today after Clinton left office. The kids have know war as a norm for 11 years. I wonder if this generation will ever know peace? I was a Soldiers for 15 years. I follow my father foot-steps. I learn the same thing he did. Your poem open the door to thoughts and what is going on with the world. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

You bring up some very good points in this one. War has always been on the agenda of the white house it seems. What did George Carlin say about war: "we're 200 years old and we've had 10 major wars. We average a war every 20 years.

As for the color red, I never thought about it until you brought it up. I did a little research and found it represents not only violence, warfare, and anger, but also power. Notice the red tie and red carpets for celebrities. I'm sure children are being bred and influenced in some subliminal way but I guess it's always been that way from the time of cowboys and indians to G.I. Joe. Good poem.

Very political and thought-provoking. Would we have freedom and life without war? Does war serve a need? A purpose? Or should it always be sunshine and rainbows? We bring the young ones up in the ways of the world and unfortunately, that seems to include war. Thanks for the interesting thoughts...very well-written.

this made me pause "of why red is in every school's colors"
red represents so many aspects of life, blood, passion and even violence
yesterday's celebration of a leader's death....hmmmmm
thought provoking
