Signs Of Life

Signs Of Life

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

In the midst of the fog

a grip of mist

wraps around the throat

till breathing becomes

more then an instinct.

At the stroke of midnight

a sliver of moonlight

pierces the skin like a needle

giving an adrenaline rush

that money can’t buy.

Inside an unexpected storm

countless raindrops

caress the face with grace

letting you experience

how natural tears are.

Waking up from this dream

is the only sign you need to see

that the world still needs you to be.

nice work...those signs of life can be felt within a dreamy state but you are right when we see the realities...it is our wake up call...realizing we are living within a world filled with signs...of beauty and life...

Your ending is very nicely written, great encouraging words to finish an overall encouraging piece! Great description and very nicely written.

Awesome poetry filled with sentimental and lovely emotion ....
Loved the 'spot on' imagery that conjures up the journey of
self exploration. Very lyrical, RNRC!

Yes, I understand this well. I am often plagued with these thoughts, they hang on the surface of my awareness and I find myself teetering on the edge of acceptance and desperately trying to crawl my way back to something that feels a bit safer. Last night, it was simply going to a pizza shop where there were lots of people around. Couples gazing into each other's eyes, friends laughing, parents engaging their children, a drunk publicing berating the waitstaff, etc....sometimes simply having a waitress ask me what I'd like is enough to reign me back in. I hope some day, I can simply "wake up" and experience relief such as what you describe here.

These are physiological responses to the world around us. Then you go and throw in the dream...and the waking...some cool twists, rhymes ...rock on

The last 3 lines quickened my soul:

Waking up from this dream
is the only sign you need to see
that the world still needs you to be.

Life....is it really so simple? I think this is the kind of validation some of us need to aquire the grace and humility needed to weather all the rain that fills our hearts with heavy emotion.
