very clever word winds around here~ and a very wise observation indeed~Jimmy Dean was way before my time~ but his legend tweaks curiosity across generational lines~ he died young so young~ wondering if he would have passed a lonely rebel if he'd lived~
Wow, so many cool lines crammed into one piece. Big fan of the 'careless emotions the gasoline that burned bridges' line. Great imagery. Thanks for sharing this
nicely done... I was never a fan of James Dean... Not into the cool Kat type, I like more of the subtle nerd in the corner!! lol.. anyways.. I really enjoyed it!
There's always one, someone who plays the part, looks the part .. sad really, pretending to be what he'd like to be (even she'd like to be) .. living in another person's skin. And yes, your final line's right, when someone behaves the 'big i am' even those closest to them turn away and the rebel stands alone .. how awful that must feel when eyes open and realisation sets in.
Someone builds a grand staircase that takes to everybody's attention in the middle of the hall. Perhaps it doesn't go anywhere, but it gave a special attention to our impulses for the dream, it emboldened our nerve. Suffice that it may be used someday to tell a beautiful redhead ' Frankly, I don't give a damm.' But while it was there......wow!
wow..superb writing..there's a pounding message of a spent youth, without knowing it you have grown..and with James Dean as an icon of not just his generation but more still..where would he be now?
The words in this poem is true. Few real rebels. People who are willing to put it all on the line. The rebel without a cause will be alone one day. Hard to hold on to the good things when life is a constant search for action and thrills. Thank you for the excellent poem.
