Invisible Reaper(Expanded)

Invisible Reaper(Expanded)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

I wrote a piece for a contest about death in ten words or less. This is the expanded version of it.

"

Don’t fear the fog

It is just nature’s blanket.

Don’t fear religion

It is just man’s word against God’s.

Death is unpredictable,

Death is inevitable.

Just live life to the fullest

For you’ll never hear his footsteps’

You’ll never see the sickle swinging…

When it does the effect is permanent.

A cool ending, "You’ll never see sickle swinging…
When it does the effect is permanent." Awesome!

I think death will always be feared but yes enjoy life in the now and live it as you will. I for one don't look forward to death at all.

Love the closing two lines

Laughing because my reactions are two-fold .. one, I'm one of those lonely people Helen mentions and two, you've somehow managed to marry a million thoughts in your poem, taking a single thought about death into almost all of its meanings. Now I'll lose a day, trying to decide where your wisdom really lies!

Yes, it is permanent, creepy still. I don't know why we feel so creeped out (is that an expression?) at the thought of a reaper...grim or otherwise, I think it is the figment of writers imaginations. You make many good turns here Dale, death is unpredictable...except for the pre-meditated type and inevitable for us all, I just prefer to think about it in terms of angels and a loving God.
You write the creepy variety of thought really well, it had the desired effect on me!
Do you really think that it is man's word against God? It is his word that Christian religions preach, I agree, do not be afraid of religion, but have a healthy attitude of thought about what comes after death...age old argument and I'm rambling. Someone once told me that only lonely people believe in God ... nuff said.
This made me think Dale...thank you :-))))
