Mindgames

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Trapped in my brain

seeing the reality from the outside

but powerless to stop the self-betrayals.

I’m walking this razor’s edge

that separates madness from insanity

as if I am possessed.

The psychological cuts on my feet

are the sacrifices from the womb,

the crimson mud it creates

becomes my regrets

making a mess with every step.

Locked in this struggle,

my subconscious has me in a chokehold

as I wave the white flag,

but today the grip shows no mercy.

I fall to me knees

giving in to this winless battle

knowing tomorrow the war inside

will bring me peace of mind.

Last line made the poem complete. In a life where peace is hard to find. We struggle to understand the purpose of life.
"Locked in this struggle,
my subconscious has me in a chokehold
as I gasp out “uncle”,"
You are a artist with words. I could discuss this poem for hours.
A excellent poem.

When I think of mind games I automatically think of others screwing with my mind, not of the internal struggle you so well describe here Dale.
It is eerie and has strength within its lines...knowing the battle will be your victory tomorrow is an interesting thought to ponder on...
Nicely done...cheers.

Wow!! I love the edgy tone and raw visceral feel, it's a style I get off on. I am new, and kinda delving into your writing, of which I am liking a great deal. I think the last lines are great, so deep and I re read this and get a different take. Good write. Props!!

I kinda liked the "Uncle" part. Nice picture of the internal struggle.

it is so hard to find peace and nothing can hold as hard
as regret. i love the strong images and the impact.

Your words weave poignant, creating images of sadness, struggling with your soul and the realities of what life is...yet remaining hopeful for the morrow'

Powerful...I often wonder how close the line is separating us from sanity and insanity....what holds us back from that line and what would push us over? The flow is excellent...When I read it out loud, it felt as though a dark, whispery voice should be saying it. Chills....

A most bold and powerful piece here. I loved this one Dale, from the words, to the imagery, to the wise choice of font, it all blends together so well to make one cohesive and brilliant poem.
