She Lied For Fame

She Lied For Fame

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Just some lyrics I wrote

"

A small town girl

With big time dreams

Of being a musical idol

In hearts around the world.

Her ambitions

Outweighing her talents.

With a never say die attitude

And a face made for

Selling millions

She caught the eye

Of the devil in disguise.

She’ll sign away her soul

Just to achieve

A little bit of fame.

It is worth the price

To see her name in lights

And filled arenas screaming her name.

A team of experts

And the latest technology

Turned her karaoke form

Into a singing sensation.

Her voice

A greater special effect

Then can be seen

In any Hollywood movie

And an image

So undeniably unreal

She can’t recognize

The woman in the mirror.

She signed away her soul

For the chance

To have adoring fans.

Is it worth the price

Crosses her tainted mind

As her heart beats like a machine.

The more the music sells

The more she feels like Barbie

As the success grows

Her self worth dies

The bigger the audience

The less she feels love.

She signed away her soul

Now her life

Has lost true meaning

She forgets the price

With pills and alcohol

Completing the deal with the devil.

She lied for fame

Till it drove her

To lie six feet under.

It is the all time American dream to become rich and famous. I wonder how many in hollywood are truly happy? This woman in your poem represent so many who want that which sparkles over that which is good for the soul. We think money and fame can fix everything get us into any where but what it does is isolate us and divide us from people. It is truly lonely at the top, how would you know that friend, or that lover is truly your friend or lover? Wonderful write my friend.

And how many times does this happen to artists ...
it's sad. This, however, is well written and reminds me
of a movie i watched yesterday, called CRAZY.

the truth is in these words as we manufactuer acts for a hungery audience..who buy the lies and the beauty for a chance to dream 'that could be me' and indeed be careful what you wish for

How very true! Too many young people (especially) get caught on the hop, taken to the top, used by anyone who wants a fast buck or quid .. the singer or actor or whatever, thinks the money, bright lights, booze and pills are what fame's all about .. until that day, when someone else comes along and the first one's dropped, allowed to slide into that six feet under. It's happened in every field of life, not just entertainment! Dale, as always you make the reader think with your wonderful way of writing, in this case, great lyrics. Be careful tho, love, don't let the bright lights dazzle you!

there are always choices in life, and costs associated with them. It's a sad fact of life for many. Nicely done!

What a true poem for many who have achieved fame i would imagine.
We all need to be recognized - some go too far like this woman who now depends on pills and booze to ease her pain she gained with the fame when she lost her soul.

The American Dream, you know? Good depiction of beginning to bitter end. I liked it, it was believable.

Your writing describes so many; women, men. It made me think of Anna Nicole Smith

Hey you I love this because it depicts how many women and men in the world? Its a sad story and almost always leads to that same empty feeling. Guess some people really do have to try it to know its not good for them eh ? :)

Ps the stanza before last, you said She forget the price, I'm thinking you meant to say She forgets the price?
of course if i read it with an irish accent it sounds right haha :)
