A Sacred Haunting

A Sacred Haunting

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

She calls my name with sincerity,

My feet are blocks of solid fear.

She cries out my name with hope,

My arms are heavy with doubt.

She screams my name with desperation,

My reflection is tinted by lies.

She is the ghost

That haunts my grave.

Wow. So few words yet so many images and thoughts. Regrets of what could've or should've been given, or perhaps what someone needed that you just couldn't offer. Maybe even the "ghost" was the one that was unreasonably expectiong too much or being unrealistic making the other person feel guilty eventhough they weren't. Very unsettling feeling with this. Excellent piece!

I read this straight off, then read each of your first lines together, then the second lines and think i understand more. What a deeply regretted past, tragically sad memories - another person, irreplacable and forever calling you back.

'My reflection is tinted by lies.'

eerie indeed!! sounds like a nightmare to me - the screams of the subconscious which is haunted by the past! nice!

Now this is eerie... is this the memory of a former love who haunts the speaker still?

I love the darkness and depth within this piece. It cuts deep into the reader's soul. A beautiful and captivating piece.

Sometimes we must face our fears and often in facing them we have much to learn. This poem has a dreamlike quality, as if it is a message, symbolic of something important.
