Foretold Flooding

Foretold Flooding

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Shadows of regret

Shine in the sun

But become larger than life

In the dark.

Rustling of the wind

Stirs secrets beneath

Fallen leaves

Till they drift into a drain

To create a disaster down

The road.

Then sound of thunder

Is the devil’s motivation,

Lightening executes

His brilliant plan,

Then comes the rain

To fulfill the prophecy.

There is a vast relevance you create with these metaphors that are simply magic. Just so glad that you're here holding down the Cafe... Been going strong for years, and not slowing down!

A kick a*s butterfly effect. SOme leaves clug up, floods, a signs of a fast moving jam of sliding steel and accidents. A devil's simple pleasure.

As long as you can find the glimmer of sunshine, you'll be okay. Always hold on to that. Beautiful writing, Dale.

Well, this is dark as dark...regrets can grow larger than life if one dwells on the past too long...leaves fall when they have died...and the present has no future when the past is unresolved, which could amount to death in one's soul.
Lightning and thunder are signs of storms brewing, unavoidable now...but the devil's plans are in the hands of God...and rain has once fulfilled the prophecy of a world-wide flood...rain is a reminder of WHO IS IN CONTROL !
I think you might have pitted good versus evil in your intriguing poem here...I love poems where I have to 'ponder' the meaning for me personally !
Splendid :)

What a chilling write. I can't imagine. One summer, I thought it was going to rain and be grey the entire summer. It hardly even got above 70 degrees. Crazy weather. I hear California has been overwhelmed with rain lately.

I like your use of extended metaphor - the approaching storm and its prophecy of rain. This taps in to the emotions very well.

wow this is great imagery but I prefer to think of storms as the power of God. This poem is done very well though.

I can feel the electricity, smell the rain! Very creative writing here, vivid detail that tells an ominous story. Great job!
