Genesis(Remastered)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

I believe in God not organized religion

"

Genesis…

       Once in a lifetime event

       Witness by just one…

              The creator of all,

The one of actions not words.

Showing us the way with miracles

Then gracing us with the gift of freewill.

Generation to generation

       The almighty word is taught.

Unfortunately… tainted my mortal breath

       That hides the selfish needs

       And personal agendas.

Trying to build their faith

On a foundation of fear

So the flock dare not step

Into the imperfect soil,

Scared it might be quicksand.

I will never be confined

       By suffocating pews

Or bow down

       To a man made cruxifix.

I can find the road to heaven

Paved in the veins of my heart

As I march to the hymn of it beating.

Wow! You're pretty cool!
Genesis says: In the beginning was the Word. KJV
In the Phoenician that was original, or ancient Hebrew if you like, it said:
In the beginning was the Thought.
All of our reality comes back to the thoughts of #1.
Which is my point.
Great Poem.

This is beautiful and reflects my own beliefs. I really enjoyed this piece, its written softly so not to offend but only to say what needs to be said. I loved it.

I find this to be parallel to my belief. I certainly agree with you. This goes a bit deeper than meets the eye.

I'm always greatly encouraged to come across a testimony of the Creator of our Universe. I believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour, who through his death on the cross for my sin, reconciled me to God my heaenly Father.

I am not a fan of organised religion, but I do enjoy worshipping with fellow believers and listening to the Word of God truthfully taught. I love to read and study the Scriptures for myself.
We need to be careful not to generalize our antipathy for Church and Clergy. There are many fine teachers who care deeply for people across the board.

I found the tone of your poem rather negative, yet well expressed, for you have touched on truth which dishonors the name of God. May we as individual believers walk in the footsteps of Jesus to the praise of his name.

I believe there is a God. He get the blame for too much. I don't like organize religion either. We must find peace in our own heart and mind. I believe in the end. The karma of a good life will be the good deeds done without the desire of rewards or to be recognized. I like this poem. Made me think.

Well I agree and disagree. I just searched around until I found a church that was right for me. Everyone has a different style. I guess churches are like shoes, you have to find one that fits you just right. People aren't in church because they are sinless; we are all there because we are all sinners. It's nice to fellowship with other Christians. They are friendships that often run deeper and are more solid than friendships we make out in the world. God is the common bond. I loved your poem. Especially the last stanza! Way to go Rock N' Roll.

Very well done. The imagery is wonderful. I agree man cannot get to their eternal rewards through religion alone. God created us to be unique free thinkers and I think that is the reason why so many times some push against the grain of the thoughts of others.

i echo your sentiment
religion has been a source of conflict
a source of influence
a source of false power
a source of spreading guilt
a source of conditions
a reason for separation
everyone has the "way"
only one way to heaven
many ways to hell
it creates heaven and hell right on earth
everything is justified through religion
i've grown to despise it
the way women are treated as saints or w****s
the way leaders are made Gods
neglecting to realize we are all human
even the people that wrote the book
it all makes me sick
god's love is unconditional
but we never feel deserving
because of religion

I so so so agree, and have many debates about this, your words speak so much, no, I don't need to be in church to talk to God, or pay money, or to listen to a man preaching, and yes, when the time is right I'll find my own way to heaven........this is so well written, hard hitting and truthful.

Well this reminds me of a quote I believe Ben Franklin once said that "Lighthouses are more helpful than churches." There may be some truth to that statement, but I also think that it's a very generalized statement. Anyways, I thought this was a interesting. Thanks! :D
