The Act, The Actor And Director(Me, Myself and I)

The Act, The Actor And Director(Me, Myself and I)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Inspired by "Edge Of Thorns" and "When The Crowds Are Gone", both by Savatage.

"

There is a beautiful garden

Created inside the theater,

A set built

Inside my mind.

Keeping my balance

As I walk between the rows

So I don’t crush

The seeds I’ve sewn

Based on your powers of persuasion.

I’m blinded by the light

That shines on you

Engaged in a solo performance,

Acting on improv

On a stage built for an ensemble…

I directed…

You dictated…

My vision

Becomes your glory

Till the final bow

When you’re graced with bouquets

And I bleed from the thorns.

In the end

When the lights go out

Those roses wilt

But my red stain will remain

For eternity.

A deep and rich analogy, very unusual and striking metaphors Dale. Well thought out with good delivery.
These lines are fabulous;
And I bleed from the thorns.

In the end

When the lights go out

Those roses wilt

But my red stain will remain

For eternity.

Kudos Dale...

Cheers :-)

Deeply profound, you bring alive this garden with its beauty and its pain. You've allowed us a glimpse inside the theater.. inside you.. and you've done this so vividly.

I like to read your creations born out of song.
Gotta watch those pricks ... yet even as they bleed,
we know we're alive.

Thank you for sharing!

I think these lines are magnificent...

A set built
Inside my mind.
Keeping my balance
As I walk between the rows
So I don’t crush
The seeds I’ve sewn

the ending is just as good. A deep and compelling piece... great writing...

I must confess i am not familiar with the 2 songs, with that out of the way, i can read so many different meanings into this wonderful write you have penned that if i broke it down i think i would be writing a book on it. So let me say it captured me so much that i read it through several times, and i even tried to pick a favorite part though i couldnt. The whole piece has me.
(I did get a few images of phantom of the opera.)
I may have to come back an write more later...Love this piece!

This piece is so deep and passionate. I like everything about this poem. In particular, I like the lines,
"When the lights go out
Those roses wilt
But my red stain will remain
For eternity."

These lines heightens the intensity of the entire piece. The imagery throughout
this piece is powerful, dramatically rich, and very beautiful.
