Without(Pieces Of Me)

Without(Pieces Of Me)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Beneath the relentless sky

In a world built on subliminal treason

Are these aching bones

Virgin to daylight,

In search of sanctity;

Clutched in the vulture’s talons.

Removal of my flesh

Was vital in letting emotions flow.

Next the lungs had to be buried

Beneath the treaded dirt,

For without captive air

I could feel the true meaning

Of breathing.

Ripping out the heart

To leave it bleeding all over the ground

Allowed me to hear

The true meaning of love

Without the distorting beat

Distorting the truth.

Disposing of my stomach

Helped feed this barren wasteland

So I can see my hunger

Is not in vain.

Letting my mind shatter

And watching the pieces

Fall between the cracked terrain

Put in perspective

The education

That hinders my spirit’s freedom.

Now that I face

The harsh elements

And natural predators

In the rawest form possible

I feel confident

I am really living.

Isn't that true, when the chips are down and we are facing the harshest elements of life that's when we are truly living. Those are probably the moments that will stand out the most to us when we gaze back over our fleeting lives. The fun and gay times are nice...but the rough ones where survival wasn't as easy, those are the bookmarking moments for most.

YES couldn't agree more, when everything is going well we are almost sleepwalking, then life pulls that rug out from under our feet, wow, we feel things like we never felt them before and see through different eyes, so much more in tune and yes, definately alive. Great write.

Maybe we have to fight the toughest battles to find out what we're really made of .. living happy, calmly, not a problem in sight makes for complacency.

Not sure that this is the right reading of your wonderfully powerful words but .. we all read differently

Your poetry can be so uplifting, pointing directions and thoughts to another level. Wonderful words, Dale .. truly

Sometimes we have to tae ourselves apart to really feel,
to become vulnerable. Powerful words here. My favorite
lines: Beneath the relentless sky
In a world built on subliminal treason
Are these aching bones
Virgin to daylight,
In search of sanctity
Helped feed this barren wasteland
So I can see my hunger

Is not in vain.
Letting my mind shatter
And watching the pieces
Fall between the cracked terrain
Now that I face
The harsh elements
And natural predators
In the rawest form possible
I feel confident
I am really living.

To truly live we must find out who we really are.

This is a great eye opening, thought provoking poem. It makes us take a deep hard look at who we are as people and the things that are going on around us on a grander scale. The flow is easily followed. Love this write.

such a deep perspective...really like the untamed, determined
feel of this.
