once standing tall and proud, passions ignighted along a trickling stream of hot wax, only to climax into a pool of reflection,of what it used to be and has now become...these lines hit hardest to my ears...
Home is nothing more
Then a square white circle
Sectioned off and marked
As evidence.
This somehow spoke about what's happening in the real world. Unwanted childhood encounter could be one's worst enemy. It could be the ghost which kept haunting an already disturbed soul. While it was true that adulthood became solitary confinement, one would also get busy as to forget, yet that was just something ephemeral. Very interesting piece.
There are some really great lines in this Dale:
One sniff of the soul’s aura
Brings echoing cries
Of hell’s hounds taunting
The lonely man in the moon
Some of us do burn the candle at both ends at times,
and I am probably one of them:)).
Home is nothing more
Then a square white circle
Sectioned off and marked
As evidence. --A very curious image. I agree with your description of the home, it is often a crime scene of sorts, sadly.
The only refuge
Are those straitjacket lies
That wraps the mind
In sugar coated peace --Ah, isn't society's reality such a lie? I see so many ideas in this piece that are hinted at. The reader can interpret so much, really leave me thinking. A little introspection is a great thing, not many writers can inspire it, but you definitely did here.
saccharine --Adore your word choice.
Definitely a poem to be appreciated. :) A great write, keep it up for sure.
I'm familar with the book, as my daughter read it not too long ago and was telling me about it. Drug addition is horrible thing. You've captured the "hell and hopelessness" of it quite well. It's great description, being very metaphoric, but conveying clearly the intended feel. Great piece!
"The only refuge/Are those straitjacket lies/That wraps the mind/In sugar coated peace,/Till the saccharine melts/Inside a ring of fire"
I love those lines. They could apply to situations other than drug use quite well.
you've expressed many insights in this that touches on elements on earth yet lives within our souls and the decisions that influence our inner hell and heaven...smooth write!
dear God.... this was soooo somber, deaf and frightening... good thing you had inspiration from a reading!! i feel better now.. thank you very much!!! but hey? that is what writing is all about... to pull out emotions from all directions,, you had my attention...
hey I like that analogy of burning the candle at both ends,
like he for sure was doing (as many do).
Unfortunately childhood isn't always so nice to some of us;
some worse than others, but it carries over into adulthood
(even as we then know better) He has an amazing story!
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
