Contradictions In Humanity

Contradictions In Humanity

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Within my subconscious

Are the faceless…

Vie for my attention

Then turning their backs

To the thoughts I have yet to speak.

On the tip of my tongue

Are the nameless…

Speaking of freedoms

Then telling me how to be

Before I have a chance to fail or succeed.

Just within my grasp

Are the fearless…

Lending me a hand

Then not allowing me to touch

Without the security of latex gloves.

These contradictions

Of the human condition

Make me weep

While leaving a sense of hope.

A very high feeling of life today for many.. while contradictions sting.. they do remind us of being human. Your abstract image really does flow well with the writing.. with an air of mystery as to the contradictions that you have felt in life. I loved the fact this ended on a hopeful note.. and I hope others out there find their living contradictions lead them on the same path. IF we loose anything in life.. let it not be hope or faith! Great work.. my reflections may not be true to what this is written about.. just what I took from it. Very humane feel to this one!

Nice job on this write. We as humans love to contradict ourselves.

Humanity is, as a collective, both angel and beast. You've described that truth quite eloquently, here. :) Your writing continues to grow.

Nice Cowboy! a few things... real quick. In the first stanza I think you might mean "vie"

Third stanza..."leading" did you mean "lending"?

100 daisies my dear! Very well done. Contradiction when examined closely, can be more of a compliment than a dichotomy. You've picked that up well here.

People saying one thing and doing another, heads of countries promising one thing then doing another. That's what your poem says to me. I like this, great job here.

the eternal paradoxes. gets confusing, doesn't it? it's either/or and both and everything; it's the hegelian dialectic; it contains the essence of humanity, good and bad, and it finds its best expression, i believe, in poems like this one.

I have to agree whole heartedly, I am guilty I am human
we error, the retireve, then once again error,
it's apart of growin, now to preach what you lack
to practice then,, it's time to weep!!!
