Chain Reaction (Deja Vu)

Chain Reaction (Deja Vu)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Again I set out on this road

            that’s not so less traveled…

Just not traveled upon

            by people of personal connection…

Connections of heart and soul

being separated by the razors edge…

An edge I willingly walk for years

leaving miles of scars on my heels…

Scars that turn into salvation

walking this concrete jungle on sunny days…

The kind of days that leave me blind

to the importance of the future…

A future drifting further from innocence

till it is long forgotten with the lullabies…

Those lullabies sung to me as protection

            from the monsters ruling midnight…

A relentless midnight showing no fear

when hunting me down upon the sun’s setting…

Round and round,

it’s an endless full circle

keeping me in a state of

                                    déjà vu…

Should it be "willingly walk" ?
My favorite lines are of lullabies sung for protection at night,
though no one ever sang them to me. I sang them to my son.
I guess that is why there are still monsters invading my space.
That feeling of deja vu is haunting. I oft times feel it.
I enjoyed reading this write.

i love it - love that you shared the feeling of deja vu - how truly amazing it is! almost as if we were here before but couldn't remember when but just remember the feeling....some kind of cell memory living within of the past...

beautiful.

Don't we all walk this walk my dear friend!? We all tend to walk in circles when we should step away! Great write Dale! Great!

I absolutly love this. The first stanza is my favorite part. You're a very talented writer, keep up the good work.

Nicely expressed, Dale and I think the last little stanza separated from the rest with a space adds an extra little touch of a power boost. Subtle, but it's there.

Good job!

I love how the structure of this poem is like a chain, the way it's structured, and it does wrap itself up with a ribbon of ambiguity at the end. nicely done.

hmmm, sort of "Ground Hog Day" meets "Monsters ruling the night"
all on the thin edge of a razor, cutting over and over but ever deeper each lullaby
