I read your beautifully presented poem then read the reviews .. strange that I thought of it as being a confirmation that while you remember being trapped, you've dreamed of letting go or, seeing how it would be to let go .. that the hurt's there but you see it for what it is. Dreams are our day arguing with our state of mind, straightening out, juggling and -this is some dream.
Rightly or wrongly, you've touched nerves and expressed strong emotions ..
(Methinks the where in last line should read were)
Another excellent write Dale! Boy this one hit me right in the gut, cant say how but Im feelin it. I love the title, Im gonna start bending your ear when Im stuck on a title ;)
I'd like to know what it's actually about because I remember a time in my life that this poem describes perfectly. A wonderful write, glad to see that you're still writing. Keep up the good work!

This is one of the most eloquent, deeply meaningful poems I've read of yours. The feel flows between sorrow, longing, and hope, somehow... maybe because you are still able to dream. Regardless of its intent, to me it brings to mind some relationships I had that I didn't let go of when first I should have, and I stood there in limbo: apathetic, bored, unhappy, and with nowhere left to go.
I really love this one! I find reading another writer not a way to "figure them out", but to find a thread that ties it to my frames of references (if possible). Maybe even to relish life through others' eyes, their fantasies, hopes or failures..
contrary to your disclaimer in "author's note," dreams, particularly disturbing ones are the underlying layers of our psyche telling us what it's like down there...kind of like a cerebral bellyache...
What my mind thinks.. ? wow..
Reality is in.. love it..
Did I ever tell you .. that your poetry it's getting better , and better?
Well !!!!!
It is... !

I read it twice and am stuck... lol but then again, it's your own masterpiece so
it can come from somewhere so deep only for you to understand? or from nowhere at all,, great work... (the dogs eyes???) metaphoric for loyalty????
Umm, I have had dreams that keep reminding me of a love I once had. Today I had a dream that I bath his grandmother's dogs and never knew it was his grandmother. lol I know these feelings. I may not be able to pin point that exact topic we are talking about here but I have felt like this due to love and even that life wasn't where I wanted it to be. Great job on conveying the emotions in this poem.
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
