Anti-Fairytale

Anti-Fairytale

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

You must be related

To Brothers Grimm

Cause God knows

You can write a fairytale.

Had me believing in forever after

With your Cinderella charms,

I guess that glass slipper

Was really made of plastic

Till it melted from

Deception in your hot breath.

Like a child coming of age;

Love to me is now Peter Pan…

       I am the Tin man

       And you the wicked witch.

Ouch, this makes me want to punch the subject who inspired this, hard, no kidding... however, I know how it is to be her, so I would restrain myself.
Emotive, expressive little write here. Fairy tales... they aren't quite what we make of them, ever. There is always another side to that story we have in mind.
A hug and a prayer for a better tomorrow for you.

This breaks my heart. I know that feeling though and the anger. I wish I could make it go away for you. Though, sometimes the anger takes away from the pain and when I'm angry, I clean, so it's rather productive, lol.

I like this piece, though, very much. I just wish that these were fictional feelings.

I love the glass slipper turning out to truly be just plastic...too often people turn out to be the quite opposite of what we thought, or even hoped. And relationships that we thought to be something special turn out to be a fake. Loved all the fairy tale references as well. There are still some good witches out there, and you will find yours someday.

Man this was ridiculously creative. Incorporating so many children's fairytales in to a poem about love. It's interesting, considering fairytales always give a fake expression of reality and instill false hope in children and when life proves that there is no such thing as a happy ending, there is nothing but dissappointment and pain. Beautifully done :)

There is such a gripping sense of pain here, mingled in the anger of false love. Vividly written with emotion and dark colors, covered in the heavy sadness at the end of a fairly tale.

Excellent write. Great imagery created with your words. Lots of wicked witches out there not caring at all who they hurt. Makes me mad. Very strong write. Hang in there. Hope the witch realizes her loss one day.

Great idea of using the Bros. Grimm. Obviously, there is passion behind this one. THis sometimes drives us to write great works. Sometimes beautiful and sometimes ugly, but it is REAL. Being a natural cynic, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

I've been working on my own fairytale poem Cowboy. They tend to reek of cynacism and your packs its punch well. I would take out either the last or penultimate 'now' to avoid repetition and then I would put it in a sealed envelope and let those words fly to the intended. Brilliant.

This, too, shall pass...
Heartfelt, stick to the ribs, write!
It wasn't Cinderella, but Cruella!!
