There is too much hatred and some of it is born out of love...sounds strange I know, but it is true nonetheless. Life can change in a heartbeat, not just a hiccup change, but a huge change, stroke/heart attack...swift and deadly, we would do well to consider that when we next think of ways to demean or hatred makes a home in us...
Thank you Dale for this much-needed wake up call...
Wish more people
Would take to heart your words
Flowing before our eyes
Easy of a gentle moving river
Pass the fatal rapids of hate and ignorance
Which too many lives are locked in.

Hello,This is genius!!! This was just the perfect poem for me to come upon today, now in this moment,as my thoughts are alined with theses words! WOW!!! "it's up to you to shine" "To try and fail is still success, never trying is real failure...hatred has no point, love is never pointless". Beautifully worded, and an Awesome job :) Dana-
"Though death is not the end...it's still a solo journey." You are quiet well spoken on the efforts of living and how quickly we can be diverted from these earthly travels. May I add my own personal touch to your brilliant writing? "Life reached out to take my hand....I chose to continue my walk with the livig damned.......It placed my hand upon the cold cadiver of destiny...My legacy if I continue to refuse to see." You are a compliment to any poetic soul and a true indidvidual thinker. Write on!!!
Very thought provoking reflection on death. We forget the fragility of life, like constant denial, until reality smacks us in the face. My favorite lines because of the imagery and language are:
"it only takes
a New York minute
for Mr. Reaper
to stake his claim."
Lines 9 through 14 sound a little choppy and some syntax or punctuation could probably be changed there. At the end, I really liked the wordplay :) It's coincidental I read this today because I just put up a poem about our perception of death yesterday. Good job!
You are correct in your poem. Don't take much to end a life. We need to cherish our time with friends and family. Hate only brings us to a dead end. Poem is powerful and so many outstanding statements.

It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
