Deserted Revelation

Deserted Revelation

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A distant echo cried

Over a strange desert plain;

Lost in the nothing,

Like forgotten dreams.

My soul felt like

The infinite night sky;

My heart the stars,

Seen after long burned out.

Walking down memory lane

Towards the hypnotic wailing

In my own shoes

That don’t seem to fit

I knew I must recognize the signs,

For this journey couldn’t be retraced

Cause the breadcrumbs I left

Sank deep in the mud.

Taking in the sight of the lush greenery,

Enjoying the mist of the cool crisp air

Tantalize my pores, refreshing my imagination

I walked the nurturing road

Knowing soon I will risk turning to dust

Trudging a barren land in search of why

My vocals chose to roam alone.

Days of sun baked searching

Produced a question as parched

As my aching body becoming one

With the unforgiving terrain.

Then with one big swallow of sand

I finally realized the truth…

If my voice doesn’t seek

Then I shall never find.

Suddenly becoming dust in the wind

Was a hopeful destiny.

Dale, you seem like a man on a journey itself. I've noticed a transition in your writing that expresses just that. It is wonderful to see a transformation in your life spelled out in your words. I like the depth. It shows character and a tough spirit. :)
Thank you for openly sharing your words. They continue to inspire. :)

Cowboy, "if my voice doesn't seek, then I shall never find", very powerful words that many can relate to. Nice job in your descriptive journey that we find ourselves taking...."with a hopeful destiny".

So insightful, wonderful metaphors and imagery. I love the ending:
"If my voice doesn’t seek
Then I shall never find."
If you don't ask then you will never find out. Life is all about learning so you should ask as much as you can. A really great poem. Two thumbs way up.

The journey this poem takes one on is so parrallel to how life really is for everyone.....we all go through the desert, and yearn for the lush forest with the coolness and comfort the tree's can offer, there are so many different ways to interpret this....you give us all something to think on, i'm sure everyone will take away something different yet so very meaningful for their own lives;)

This is really amazing. What a fantastic way to describe going forward in life, enjoying the journey even though you know how it is going to end. I'm really impressed. Great job.

This poem says to me that you are a very insightful
person, as wel as spiritual, trying to find your way,
not getting drugged down to nothingness.

There is strength here as well.

Wonderful job! It's polished, deep and the metaphors are very intriguing. The final stanza made the poem for me. It's full of hope and a determination to reach forward even if what is unknown might cause more pain in the long run. Briiliant write.

The depth of your voice here is powerful, moving us over time and space... through deserts and dreams... The imagery is emotionally gripping... the stars, the breadcrumbs, the destiny... Amazing write, my friend.
