One Nation Under Bureaucracy

One Nation Under Bureaucracy

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Cellblock gypsies

Bargain basement hearts,

Embrace the emptiness,

Steal away damnation;

      One nation without…

      Humanity,

            Salvation.

Only the long arm of democracy

That holds on to the long arm of…

      Gravity; and it is known

What goes up must come down.

So goes the cycle,

Recycled from the grave,

Exonerated from hell

For the purpose of

      Jealousy, retribution.

Penance lost; adrift

      In a sea of fear.

Tears in a vial; becomes acid

      When spilled on newborn flesh.

The hard line between eternity

And an enigma

      Suffocates reality,

      Sophisticates generations,

      Complicates unity…

Forbidden structures become

Unholy temples under the watchful…

      Eye in the sky,

      Translucent hypocrisy

            Clipped wings of freedom;

Fear the new “F” word

In the land of the faceless

And the land of the blasphemers.

The topic was a bit religious for my taste but you stated it very well. I ended up liking it in spite of myself. A good writer can change anyone's mind. Even a philosopher like me. Thank you for teaching me to second guess my first impressions. Well done!

There is so much truth to this. Very raw and full of imagery. Very well written. I liked this piece.

I'm completely lost at the start, really. I have read it over and still can come to no understanding nor meaning. However I get the rest and I think it was excellently and skillfully executed. Flow is genius and I absolutely loved the last few lines, it really hits with a punchline and i dont mean joke

I love the powerful voice in this. The lines flow
with clarity, truth, and determination.

These are some of my favorite lines:

Cellblock gypsies
Bargain basement hearts,

Recycled from the grave, When spilled on newborn flesh.
The hard line between eternity
And an enigma

Exonerated from hell
Forbidden structures become
Unholy temples under the watchful…
Eye in the sky,
Translucent hypocrisy
Clipped wings of freedom;
Fear the new “F” word
In the land of the faceless
And the land of the blasphemers.

>>And so your voice was heard!

Amazing! Bravo Sir. This is the type of poetry that gets the blood flowing through my veins. Spit truth through their bullshit. Strong and powerful from the first line to the last.

the first two lines IMMEDIATELY slice the reader. and the rest of the piece comes equipped with talons. Nicely done and very true.

Nice commentary on the founding father's intent versus what the "Statist Feds" are up to lately. "Translucent hypocrisy/Clipped wings of freedom." That says it all. It is timely and I enjoyed it.

Things change, quite simply.
or perhaps it's people that change. we went from, well, not so much of an "honest" sort of people, but a sort of people with honor and pride, at least.
Very insightful.
