One Nation Under Bureaucracy

One Nation Under Bureaucracy

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Cellblock gypsies

Bargain basement hearts,

Embrace the emptiness,

Steal away damnation;

      One nation without…

      Humanity,

            Salvation.

Only the long arm of democracy

That holds on to the long arm of…

      Gravity; and it is known

      What goes up must come down.

So goes the cycle,

Recycled from the grave,

Exonerated from hell

For the purpose of

      Jealousy, retribution.

Penance lost; adrift

      In a sea of fear.

Tears in a vial; becomes acid

      When spilled on newborn flesh.

The hard line between eternity

And an enigma

      Suffocates reality,

      Sophisticates generations,

      Complicates unity…

Forbidden structures become

Unholy temples under the watchful…

      Eye in the sky,

      Translucent hypocrisy

            Clipped wings of freedom;

Fear the new “F” word

In the land of the faceless

      And the land of the blasphemers.

9 years ago... seems no hope in your piece, but here we are 9 years later, and your words can still be applied.
I don’t think our Country will ever be calm waters, we are ever changing with cultures, values, growth is a struggle, Just ask parents of teens ( ;

"Only the long arm of democracy
That holds on to the long arm of…
Gravity; and it is known
What goes up must come down."

This perfectly and very eloquently describes this country's history. Good and bad leaders with their respective legacies have risen and fallen demonstrating the properties of gravity, taking Newton's simple bruised apple and transforming it into (literally) War and Peace.

Whoa! It's like the fall of the Roman Empire all over again. Excellent thought provoking stuff as our democracy threatens to grind to a heavy, bloated halt as we watch.

Thank you.
A lot of disillusionment I sense here. True our systems are clogged with injustice, corruption and hypocrisy....so are the powers in high places...No true democarcy to speak of.
'Translucent hypocrisy
Clipped wings of freedom;"

-A very powerful comment made here. :)

Excellent, freedom lost by the day, by the hour!
A time for the powers that be to emerge and fall, true freedom is needed, in a peaceful protest! We are the power, so why do people not take the power back?
Awesome, thought provoking poem

The long vowel sounds and heavy use of "m" and "n" sounds build the angry tone well.

Okay Dale this is one of the best poems of social injustice, and no
humanity ... or salvation...
You are very aware and this is a wonderful poem ..

so much truth lives here - the ugly truth that we are not born into a perfect world and are tainted with its garbage and inevitably our children suffer. what can we do in a world where evil destruction exists....the good eventually have to take a stand so the evil breed doesn't overwhelm...
