Midnight Emotions

Midnight Emotions

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Lip lock promises

Subtle persuasion,

Twist of fate

Or twist of Cain?

Eagle eyed stare

Glimpse of denial,

Quicksand to heaven

In memories betrayal.

Juxtapose noises

Makes thinking surreal,

Mix and matching emotions

Creates plastic heart attack.

Steal plated hand shake

Rusts any promises,

Recycling fortunes

Isn’t worth the price.

To deal with the devil

Is to deal with yourself,

The truth of tomorrow

Starts with lies of the past.

Time to wake up

Without an alarm,

Even in an eclipse

The sun never stops.

Midnight Emotions has something to do with seeing oneself; come to face to face with own self without the mask. It is about knowing the lies and truth about existence, which I believe, it's something that we rarely engage in bec we fear facing our own demons. Nonetheless, i like the flow of this piece bec it trudges on the path toward light. Those are words from a wise man.

Brilliant inspiration can come from the lies of yesterday.. bringing forth the truth of future tomorrows if the lesson is learned.. dealing with our own devils helps us to release the angel within.. sometimes we can not move forward until we have dealt with past issues haunting us. My favorite lines here were:

To deal with the devil
Is to deal with yourself,
The truth of tomorrow
Starts with lies of the past.

Time to wake up
Without an alarm,
Even in an eclipse
The sun never stops.

Alot of wisdom can be found .. loved the reality and metaphorical meanings stemming behind this piece!

wow...this is deep and profound. Do we continue to deal with the devil? Or wake up to the call of truth? Do we spin out of control again and belive in those steel handshakes, or see through them into their true value. After reading it again I think this has political undertows too. Nicely done...

Can't say that I can argue with that. Well put and definitely a thought provoking piece.

Your write is both intriguing and deeply philosophical! I love the title as with the midnight hour it is the minute at the end of one day, and the beginning of a new one, and our emotions may be in tune with either the past or the future.

As you slide through situations I see the past and the future being interwoven.....just love the last verse! How true in that the sun never stops shining - we should never give up hope even in the midst of midnight emotions, for the sun never ceases to shine as it casts rays of goodness upon the earth!

Very well written!

With lines like this, I do believe the Cowboy has outone the Cowboy. Damn, this is an outstanding piece. You dug deep and brought up a rich vein of wonderful verses to complete a most awesome poem. This is excellent. Can I say damn again?
