This is really interesting. My interpration is that is about somebody who is all smiles and false pretenses, pretending everything is perfect, making themselves look the part, but its a facade. Something is askew with their family. Its could be just a general unhappiness or something way more sinister. You've got some really great lines in there too:
Thinking that your reflection
Is a form of security
Not seeing the dirt on the mirror
As a symbolic loss of purity
and
Just keep believing you're safe
In the clearing of daytime
For the shadow of that genetic tree
Highlights a mental crime
Really great job on this piece. It the type that has so many levels we might never understand.
Whoa...what is this? A different light alright. You have given us a deeper look into what you are capable of. This is MAGNIFICENT!!
Thinking that your reflection
Is a form of security
Not seeing the dirt on the mirror
As a symbolic loss of purity.
This was my favorite part. You go into such depths of your understanding of the human psyche with this! We cling to our egos, not seeing the filth it leaves as we struggle to see past it to the truth of what is. It poisins us with importance and ignorance until we are left blind with its cataracts. By far this is one of your greats! Adding it to my favs...
I had to come read this one a few times to let the deep thoughts that run throughout sink into my head. There is so much to gleen from the underlying meaning, i feel there are multiple ways to interpret this...
we are all products of our family tree, inheriting traits, expressions, skeletons, etc. these make us who we are, and sometimes doom us to illness or other types of longstanding disorders, the mirror i get as the way we view ourselves....either through a fog- or distorted-by seeing what we want or imagine is there instead of what everyone else see's...
didnt mean to go on and on about it...i could disect it more i'm sure....i see so many different things, but will end now...
Deep and powerful message in this one, Dale! You have the ability to flex your Talent in whichever way suits your mood! Outstanding! Keep up your intriguing, and Excellent works of art, my friend!
Most intriguing! We often find that reality is not what we think it is - finding that suprising tidbit of knowledge, history, event, trait about our past - be it ancestors, or could be about us, or a loved one.
One may not be who we thought they were, or even ourselves, we may suddenly discover through self analysis that we have a surprisingly different opinion or feeling that we had ralized.
Good write, and certainly introspective. I like the title - very appropriate for the content!
Could this be like the skelton in the closet. You think your heritage is so pure and righteous only to find there are those born on the wrong side of the sheets and through heritage soiled, you are not who you thought. What is in the past is passed down via the genes. Genetics play the biggest role in who we are and you can try to hide from it. But it always creeps out into the light. Traits that we inherit. Some that may not be so desirable. Could be all wrong on this. But you have surpassed yourself with this brilliant writing. Deep, dark and thought provoking.
Ok now, this in genius.. Pure, unadulterated genius.
Thinking that your reflection
Is a form of security
Not seeing the dirt on the mirror
These are powerful lines, and I am still digesting this piece. Wow, truly a great write my friend. Two thumbs up!!
You are a rascal or a diobolical genius. I like it. All the security of humanity is an illusion...especially the security of religeon. Did I get it? I enjoyed this so much. I had to get out a piece of paper and do a line by line assumption on meaning. I didnt do it all teh way down becaue I thought I had started to get the main theme. Cowboy, you are a waxing eloquant in this. t.
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
