Party Hearty

Party Hearty

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Near empty bottles

Strewed along the floor

A few drip what remains

Of yesterdays joy.

The carpet soaked

With voluntary haze

But the wet stench

Is all too much.

Dry vomit sticks

To the couch

From drunken words

Becoming all too real.

I know I am to blame,

I was addicted to

Her wild like ways

Knowing shed never stay

To clean the mess she made.

I am to blame for

Ignoring my own advice,

I partied hearty

So now I will pay

With this emotional hangover

And the mess made of my soul.

It is those YUK, PUKE moments that forever stay etched in our memory as part of a relationship gone "sour"....forgive the pun. Your description of a relationship that is reflected in times of hearty party is vivid, and well described. And, even though you speak of awareness of the ways of the other, it is still hard to let go of these ways at times...to the point of being addicted to her ways! That is strong!

I hate all the leftover emotional things to deal with
and the sadness. fine writing.

Ah, yes, if people could only remember those WTF moments in their relationships it would be so much easier to move on. The good times are easier to remember than the "emotional hangover". This was great. I think anyone who's ever been in a bad relationship understand exactly what you mean.

emotional hangover...LOVE the word play there! And such a great way to describe those "morning after" feelings.

I love how this is not only about the party but also about the emotions of the heart.
"With this emotional hangover
and the mess made of my soul"

There are some people who can just tear us up inside and make us feel awful, leaving our hearts in total disarray. great write!

Not sure how I missed this one. I love your use of Metaphors. This is very well written, and I feel as if I have read two poems within one. The wild ones are alkways the most enticing ones. Yet, the destroyers. Good job on this piece!!

a sad & emotional write. it is always the wild ones we cannot tame. relationships are as addicting as drugs or alcohol. i love that last line "And the mess made of my soul", speaks volumes. people do come & go in our lives that seem to leave our souls in devastation and destroyed. i like the metaphor of a messy party & an emotional hangover. i've been there before. great write

A write that shows the truth of how fun the day after isnot! Important write for many who struggle with alcoholism. Very nice! ~ Jude :-)

I love this!! this was really a great poem!!
yes, alot of time we don't listen to our own
hearts and mind,, we choose what we want
to hear and when it doesn't work out? we hurt
but not surprised..
