These Many Eyes

These Many Eyes

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Through these peaceful eyes

I see the reasons why

War takes so many lives

And cry for those left behind.

Through these innocent eyes

I see why so many crimes

Go seemingly unpunished

And sentence the justice system.

Through these wide open eyes

I see through the small-minded views

That society holds us to

And look down on them.

Through these closed eyes

I see vividly the essence of heaven

As though through an angel’s eyes

And see the true meaning of beauty.

Through these many eyes

I see a world so lost

The humanity has no home

But still provides us shelter.

Beautiful imagery and phrasing, a truly wonderful piece that allows your observational skill to shine. Humanity is in big trouble and I hate to say that because it sounds so negative, but it is nonetheless true...they are their own worst enemy aided by governments world-wide that seem to like to keep the negative flow happening through various avenues of revenue.
Seeing the true meaning of beauty is a gift not to be taken for granted Dale.
Kudos...loved it!!

A
GREAT poem!
"Through these closed eyes
I see vividly the essence of heaven
As though through an angel's eyes
And see the true meaning of beauty."
This stanza stuck out to me^. I like how you showed the differences between the eyes and what they see and in the end you pulled it all together with "Through these many eyes." Once again...great poem! :)

Cowboy your insight is incrediable! You see what others turn away from.. Your words bring one into your piece and show what the world is about.. Thoughts that go thorugh my mind are your words, yet you brought them forth and make us see something we have become, we are, what we will be.. I so loved the fourth Stanza! That blew me away..

Our eyes are the window to our soul....and sadly, they too often reflect emptiness, cold and dark spirits, desires to wage war, hate, kill.....you have captured so much in your poem!
It is so "right on", and is writtten in a format that is easy to follow, and understand...deep, yet to the point!
Nice write!

This is beautiful!! Sometimes it is indeed in how we view things that forms a vision of what we see. Least that is how I read it.

I've been thinking about perspective a lot lately. I love that you've put this so eloquently to words. We can see one thing through so many different views. For one, I'm so thankful that I live in this beautiful country, but on another hand, I can see all the mistakes and the bad things about living here. It's all in perspective ...

You speak of this with simplicity and realism. I love it.

This was really great, all our eyes tell a story it could be
the same story but through our different eyes it is seen
in a different way, I know when my eyes are closed
life and our world has much more meaning.. great
job with this,,

Powerfully visual in your revelation, all seen through your profound eyes. This reveals so much about the world, the pain of war, messed up justice, prejudice, and the hope of heaven. Beautifully done!
