These Many Eyes

These Many Eyes

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Through these peaceful eyes

I see the reasons why

War takes so many lives

And cry for those left behind.

Through these innocent eyes

I see why so many crimes

Go seemingly unpunished

And sentence the justice system.

Through these wide open eyes

I see through the small-minded views

That society holds us to

And look down on them.

Through these closed eyes

I see vividly the essence of heaven

As though through an angel’s eyes

And see the true meaning of beauty.

Through these many eyes

I see a world so lost

The humanity has no home

But still provides us shelter.

Beautiful imagery and phrasing, a truly wonderful piece that allows your observational skill to shine. Humanity is in big trouble and I hate to say that because it sounds so negative, but it is nonetheless true...they are their own worst enemy aided by governments world-wide that seem to like to keep the negative flow happening through various avenues of revenue.
Seeing the true meaning of beauty is a gift not to be taken for granted Dale.
Kudos...loved it!!

There are so many thoughts and feelings in this post .. you point out what we all know but so many don't see or care about . You really dig deep into our own personal guilt ..

A very thoughtful, simply put moral issue, lovely work ..

I really liked those lines:

The humanity has no home
But still provides us shelter

There's a real wisdom in that, albeit sad. Nice job on this one.

Have you read Candide by Volataire? If you haven't you should, because he basically is smashing the idea of humanity and comically gets the message across that humans are really just terrible people. This was an awesome piece, really eye opening.

excellent poem. a deep look at society today, and how it's seen through many eyes. many innocent, wide-openend eyes. we, as people, are so opposite of what goes on in the world. very nice poem, well done!!

Dellito...My dear friend...your words are just like your spirit.. so clear and so humble.. you wrote words of wisdom.. and that gift only comes to those who know how truly love is...your mind has the potential to see and look into their heart.. and those tears of pain...I won't talk about stanzas...I love the whole poem..
DDP= Drop, dead, gorgeous..masterpiece.. simple and humble.. enough said..Muah

This is quite a piece of work. Humanity has no home, but still provides shelter. You are a talented poet this clearly shows how far the mighty have fallen. We must open our eyes and look at ways to make our world of darkness bright again. Great work. Smiles M.

It is a wise man that can truly look through the eyes of the spirit and write such a moving piece like this. I love the way you choose to recur "I see" it brings warmth to the heart regarding serious issues of life that many choose to ignore. This goes on the fav. list!. Great work my friend ~ Jude :-)
