Purple Moon

Purple Moon

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

The power of love can be equated to the power of the moon's gravitational pull on earth, unstoppable.

"

Under the beautiful glow

Of this purple moon

I can see a future full of

Radiant love and tenderness.

Mesmerized by it’s magnetic passion

And raw poetic soul

I am blissfully pulled closer

With no desire to resist.

Even during lunar eclipses

And cloudy nights

The connection cannot be broken

To the moon’s devoted embrace.

Through gale force winds

And torrential downpours

The lunar light will always

Guide and protect me.

I in kind will faithfully

Cherish all the wonders

That the smiling face offers me

Not asking for a reflection in return.

From this day forth I will never hide

In shadows and holes

That her glow could never find.

Such a beautiful tribute to the moon.. it's been admired for thousands of years for it's mystic beauty.. it's spiritual power.. and provides solace to lonely souls and lovers alike.. I really loved the depth of this one.. You have such a way with words ... and in any weather this moon shall be there for you like that guardian angel hovering overhead lighting your way even when you pay it no attention. I also felt a sense of renewed passion through your ending.. as though you lost this great friend and found her again.. her light filling your soul with solace and life:

From this day forth I will never hide
In shadows and holes
That her glow could never find

Finding love in the elements we are lucky to have around us.. the moon is certainly a dependable and worthy love.. as well as the sun.. the water.. the air we breathe that flows with aromas.. the flowers.. trees.. everything we wake up to that surrounds us daily can be upheld in so many ways.. it will not fail us. I could keep going on that.. but will not.. lol.. really enjoyed the wisdom and strength that comes from this! =)

Nice and sentimental, making the moon human, and object of desire and worship. Nice. I get the image in my head of primitive man, looking up into the night sky and staring at the moon, him knowing that it provides him/her light to fend off the evil of darkness and at the same time exposes him to other creatures who must survive the night. Just a thought. Nice job.

I love it! very optimistic ;) and passionate. I like the way you made the moon symbol interchangeable with a woman. And I loved the selflessness in this line:

"I in kind will faithfully
Cherish all the wonders
That the smiling face offers me
Not asking for a reflection in return."

That is AWESOME :)

'Those who see the moon and all its faces have both love and insight. '

Seems that you have both, Dale .. this beautiful poem shows it. The pull of the moon and all it means has been the lovers' light forever, returning day after day to show what's real.; to put it arm in arm with love is wonderful.

' Not asking for a reflection in return.' - perfect line.

What a gorgeous poem! I think you did a really wonderful job with it. I liked the metaphors of the moon and earth to a man and woman. Really nicely done.

I too love the heavens. I really like the metaphor you chose in the moon to express your emotions. Well done ~ Jude :-)

There is something so completely captivating about the moon. The softness and the glow of light. This was a very beautiful piece. I got lost in your words. Very well done.
