A little something for a contest bout music

  

Every time I hear that melody playing

In the back of my mind

It always takes me back

To another to another time.

That mighty power ballad

Always makes me think of

The very first girl

I ever really loved.

Those haunting lyrics

Pierce my heart true

Back to the fateful time

She said we were through.

When I hear that beautiful tune

Those fond memories appear

Reminding me that her heart

I will always hold dear.

Music is a like an aphrodisiac

To the heart and brain

Stimulating old thought and feelings

Like they were yesterday.

Music is such a beautiful and amazing being. I say being because all music takes on a life of it's own and, as you point out, brings up memories of the past- good and bad. It's also magical I think. And everyone can relate to this no matter who they are since music is universal! This was a fantastic piece, amazing job :]

I often write to music and yes music can bring forth memories of all kinds. I have a poem about a stage hands fantasy. I might put it up later. You might get a kick out of it.

Yes indeed music and scent can bring back the strongest memories as if they are happening in the now instead of the past. Who was this first love of yours? who set that song on fire for you to always remind you of her when you hear it? I know who ever she was she would enjoy this write as much as the rest of us~

There is some real truth here.. and great flow! Once in awhile a song will bring you back to a person or event in time when you hear it if you connected the song to something. I sometimes wonder about people doing this.. as they chose a favorite song in a couple.. then if they break up and hear it replay.. this can happen occassionally over time.. which can either make the song happy or sad at the memories.. even connected with family-members and friends.. this can be bad or good.. but certainly part of being human. Music is very important to me.. happy or sad I listen to upbeat music.. and that is what works best for me!!! I recall all the great memories.. and I have so many! =)

Music is the next most powerful thing...second only to love! The power of music is so strong that it truly can't be measured by any means accurately.
