Humanity

Humanity

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Beneath the street lights,

Under the sign that reads

“Jesus saves”

Sits a girl scared and alone

With nowhere to run and hide.

Jaded in youth by neglect and abuse,

Now it has come to this

Because no one would listen.

She’ll sell her soul to make a buck

As her chance for happiness

Is washed down the gutter.

The world throws away

Another child,

Too wrapped up in itself to care.

Humanity is not to blame,

It’s the human race forgetting the meaning.

I love this piece. It is written with so much insight. The future of a lot of children in the world today is no better than that of a helpless litter of kittens or puppies left unattended among the wild beasts. We are the beast. You can probably change the definition of human to: ancient term used to describe an upright primate that at one time cared about it's offspring. There is no tugging at the heart strings with abused children. If you truly care, as this magnificent work shows you do, it rips your heart right out of your chest. This is such a visual writting that you can see the young girl huddled alone in the night. God bless you on this piece.

Darlin This is awesome ... And yes we have
become such a selfish self centered nation
It breaks my heart to know there are hungry
and homeless in the country. In my not so humble
opinion that is one of the biggest disgraces this
country carries.

As always this was wonderful my friend

the idea that youth is what might make us jaded it a dark and edgy one- i like it. this poem is full of juxtapositions, just like life- and this makes this piece and the girl relate-able but in a more indirect way. this is my favorite type of poem- complex, short, and deep. bravo.

Ah, humanity. Bane of the earth. And here you remind me just how much I dislike the human race as a whole. =^-^=

The truth of this makes it all the more sadder. In one of the richest countries in the world veterans are homeless, children go to bed hungry and somehow we go to sleep and dream of tomorrow.

Nicely done, Cowboy a reality we all need to be reminded of.

Oh such sadness is pouring out... a touching story.. and some of the human race certainly appears to have forgotten what humanity means truly.. either from presriptions dulling them down or overworking perhaps.. so many children forgotten.. I see this occassionally around and my heart drops and bleeds.. it's just too sad.. really. Compelling writing ... sitting under a sign reading Jesus saves .. selling her soul for a buck just for happiness.. how truly aweful.. I wonder if she can read the sign or just has given up.. this one really makes one think ... those who have had good lives should really think of others less fortunate.. so many suffer even on this continent.. horrible to thing of those things.. hope this girl if she is written from reality has a goal, dream or hope.. and has a happy ending some day.. thank you for sharing!!! =)

"Humanity is not to blame,
It's the human race forgetting the meaning."

This should be a famous quote.

This is so true we turn a blind eye to the things that we don't like and never look upon someone in love. Jesus did come to redeem us and help us to be better people but we seem to still not get it right. So many children runaways for that matter needing kindness and love. Very well written piece. Excellent.
