Let It Flow

  

To rhyme

       Or not to rhyme

Is that really the question?

When it comes to expressing

Personal feelings.

 

Conforming to structure

Seems so absurd

Poetry is from the heart

And should be as unpredictable

As human emotions.

 

It should flow from soul

Not leak from the mind.

 

So when reading poetry

Look at it like a person

Not a robot…

 

This isn’t science, Its human nature.

 

Rhyming is great

But so is opening the gates

And letting your passion run wild

As long as it is from the heart

You can never go wrong.

 

So just open up and let it flow!!

Can't figure out why some think poetry has rules and regulations, human emotions don't and that is what poetry is about or should be... we all have our way of expressing it... as long as it is from the heart you can't go wrong.

Amen, amen, amen.....I could not agree more...all this hoopla about perfect form, rhyme syllables has my head spinning, but all I want to do is write to expess myself and have fun, and entertain!!

I do agree....and yet feel i want to know what the 'rules' are....for my own education, so when i'm reading the classic poets from the earlier centuries, i can understand what they went through, and the why's of their form...although they sometimes seemed as if they agonized over the form, forgetting the most important part......HEART!!!

I think structure helps us grow as writers. When we are at the point, that we've said all we were meant to say and have our emotions felt, through structure, then we an work magic writing without.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I throw a rhymer in the mix just to prove I can do it, but my favorite to write are free verse and then its alway by remote. I always say the writer within is taking over. Some people a real sticklers about it all. But I'm with you. I think everybody should fly their freak flag where poetry is concerned.
