A Prince Or Frog

A Prince Or Frog

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

somedays you start to wonder

"

Thoughts begin to dwell

Of past spells that poisoned

A heart like an apple

Down to the core.

Love potions that tasted

So sweet in the beginning

Now leave a bitter after taste

Making it hard to swallow

The juices of a fruit

That may really be pure.

Instead getting drunk on shots

Of one hundred proof lust

Draining the heart on any magic

It may still have remaining.

Reversal of fortunes

From a fairytale to reality land

For it is the prince needing saving

Before the moot around his castle

Becomes to large to cross.

It seems though that every princess

Is being held captive by a troll.

 This prince begins to wonder

If he is really a frog

Or are happy endings

Only for the imaginations

Of the young.

In the land of fairy tales, the princess kisses the frog and her prince suddenly appears but this is with a twist, leaving us to think that the not all is well in the prince's kingdom! Ah ha, the troll holds captive the princess and the prince is left to try and figure out how to get his desired prize.
This is a clever write Dale.....and a creative adaptation of that which we accept as being the expected outcome....we never really know what will happen in the land of love!

I like the reverse twist of the standard fairy tale, and found myself enjoying the flow of the poem, wanting to see what the ending would be....touche' :)

love the meaning behind the words,
I believe that there is such a thing as happy endings!
you are not the frog,, you are the prince that awaits
his princess...

great work my friend.. loved it.. again and again,
you have mad talent!!

Oh goodness let me see. I get this poem in more ways than one. High above in a tower I wait only to discover the evil dragon devours them all before they can save me. lol... So I can so relate on so many different levels. I looked outside and said to myself what good is the rain when there is no one to share it with. Then the thought hit me like a ton of bricks of course then I remembered fairytales are for dreamers and wishers. People who so strive to live in a fantasy like me that reality becomes sad and lonely. So if I am in charge of my own happiness I have to go and acheive it somehow in the realistic world. Which really drives me crazy because I am a romantic at heart trying to be in euphoric state of mind in a crazy dismal world.. Ok rattled on long enough. Great piece very well written...

I enjoyed reading this piece. Happily ever after is awaiting us all, but happily ever after does not come to us without defeating all odds. I think that is the true essense of every fairytale. Well penned.
