Bloodshed Ego

Bloodshed Ego

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Cloak and dagger dreams,

Self imposed schemes

Bury the dead

Before it’s time to rest.

How despicable…

Starting winless wars

To conquer your own world

Where the sky

Does not exist.

Keep building empires

Just to watch them fall,

Giving you reason

To buy the soil.

You disgust me…

Selling demon blood

From behind a lemonade stand

To create an army

Of living zombies.

I won’t buy your hype

Cause I can’t afford the cost

And certainly won’t stand for you

When I believe you should fall.

Let me put it into words

You can understand…

I will fight for

Home and family

I will fight for

Love and freedom

I will never fight

Just to serve…

Your Ego!!

The anger and strength of your words comes loud and clear. Yes, it's a bit of a rant but is there anyone who hasn't had the urge to throw open the window and yell at the top of their lungs, "I'm mad as hell and I won't take it anymore"? The problem is the world is never that simple never that black and white.

The war in Iraq was always about oil but riding the wave of nave patriotism following 9/11 very few stood and proclaimed Hell no, I won't go! So, in many ways I think your poem (a very good one by the way) is more about the frustration than anger. It is not very often we get to choose our battles. And it is even less often that we get to decide what we will for and what we will not.

It is easy to say that I will fight for this but not for that. But what happens in this crazy world like a cosmic shell game the distinctions easily become blurred and without realizing it this can quickly become that. What if a loved one was a passenger on one of those ill-fated 9/11 flights? Anger? Frustration? Payback?

I think the first question you need to answer is will I fight and not when will I fight. That's the black and white decision. Regardless of the circumstances, are you willing to level a rifle at another human being and kill for the greater good? In war, so often we kill even though we are not being physically threatened. We drop bombs from planes, fire missiles, grenade launchers blind to the harm they will ultimately inflict often on the in the wrong place, wrong time innocents collateral damage.

So, your poem should prompt an interesting discussion. And that's the whole point after all correct?
Another good one happy trails, cowboy there's better days ahead ...

Amazing piece so very true the thoughts on this. Oh good you get my rant on this. You know it angers me when we tell our soldiers to go die for something so trivial sometimes because we have to look like the bullies of the block. Now don't get me wrong I pray and support our troops but so many times we get into cultural wars. Wars about people doing the same thing for so many hundreds of years anyway. If they weren't going to change things then they certainly aren't going to change them now just because we say so. So we go and try to make them make radical changes to their culture. Why because our government wants to look good. We have so many issues here at home we need to be working out. Men and women die daily for the cause they were sent on. Why can't we ever try to handle things peacefully? So parents can see their children again and not worry. Also so young children will never have to fear their parents coming home from war. Very well thought provoking piece. Very well written.

Take Care,
Stacey

Bravo! Well said to the tyrants who call themselves world leaders. They start wars just to feed their egos.

Pure power! Poignant and straightfoward antibullshitism! Love it! It's hard to drop ego, but somehow, it makes life so much easier!

Cheers!

Letting go of "Ego" is the most difficult level of selflessness to obtain, but the ultimate goal.
