The Hardest Part Is The NightA Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
As the sun runs away From another day Leaving the sky's soul black The time I dread is here For it is a portal to The lonely side of my soul. Where stars remind me There is too much distance Between me and you… And moonbeams accentuate The shadows that Play tag with my heart. Teasing it with hidden Thoughts beneath Their cold smoke and mirror Existence to my lonesome reality Whose bite is far worse Then the bark killing the silence. Yet no matter how isolated The witching hour Bestows upon my incomplete heart I will ride out My time in purgatory Even if it means dying alone. For I could never just be With a nameless face That has no mind of their own Or a heart of stone Just for the pleasure Of having someone to hold. When the clock strikes midnight I’d rather play Solitaire with my soul Cause I can’t be with someone Just to be there Even though… The hardest part is the night. © 2009 The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)Featured Review
