When My Earth Reflects My Time
A Poem by
The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
Gazing upon reflections
Through atmosphere eyes
I see that my life
Maybe just a speck
Yet it is no greater or no less
Then any other living soul.
My failures
Hidden accomplishments,
My victories
Priceless treasures.
Clearly I see the roads
I traveled were never straight
Yet very necessary,
For every paved mile
Cemented my character.
My mistakes
Greater strength,
My good deeds
The real me.
I now know through faith’s eyes
Revealed to me through
My hearts content
That when I am one again
With the planet
And my earth reflects my time
My soul will take its place
Behind the pearly gates,
But my spirit will still grow
From the seeds of my heart
I planted in those I love.

It's hard to regret the past when the past is what makes us who we are. Regret is just a word people use to justify self-hatred.
"My failures,
hidden accomplishments"
I wish everyone could see them that way.

This was a nice look into your soul, Dale, very uplifting, soft in a gentle way, the real cowboy.

Your passion comes through in all your work, dear friend, and this is no exception; Sandy must be one helluva muse :-)
The third stanza is awesome and so true of human nature...
Clearly I see the roads
I traveled were never straight
Yet very necessary,
For every paved mile
Cemented my character.
We must encounter diversions, disappointments, etc. All those senseless acts make perfect sense in the grand scheme of events; at least, I think so.
You are strong and very, very forgiving.
BTW, I also like the elemental aspect here.

You touch on so many things we experience through our journey of life. Beginning with an acknowledgement of just how insignificant our lives can be seen in the grand scheme of things and finally the realization that within the love freely given is our one great and lasting gift.
" when I am one again With the planet "
You filled this poem with very real and comprehendible images and I think that is what makes it so beautiful in its simplicity and what leaves such a lasting impression.

This is really a beautiful masterpiece, Dale. So much said here that really causes the reader to take notice of their own lives and be thankful. I admire your writing ability. You are truly gifted.
