Get Your Tongue Out Of My Mouth, I'm Trying To Kiss You Goodbye

Get Your Tongue Out Of My Mouth, I'm Trying To Kiss You Goodbye

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

I want to thank my dear friend Sandy Beaches for the title and challenge

"

Well of course I packed my suitcase,

Did you think I’d leave without some clothes?

I told you bout this a while ago…

I guess you were

Too wrapped up in your self again to pay attention.

Why I couldn’t leave without a few things

And I know you were too busy with Jim Beam.

I can’t see what the big deal is…

It’s not like you will even notice,

Half the time I am a ghost around here

While you’re living just to party.

I’ve told you where I am staying…

Even wrote it down, you probably threw it out

Like you do my feelings when we talk.

I guess one kiss before I leave wouldn’t hurt…

Damn girl get your tongue out of my mouth,

I’m kissing you goodbye not taking you to bed.

Once again you’re not listening…

And you wonder why I’m leaving.

sassy metaphoric smack in the face. Love the attitude. You can't love someone who loves a bottle more than you. denying the truth only leads to devistation when you walk out that door. By following the way of addiction you are only creating a path to your own bottom. An ultimate low, a death trap many don't survive. Trying to escape life is impossible, b/c it never goes away.

Powerful piece and love the title!

OMG, I can't believe this write. I know this feeling so well and it shed a light on attention to details we as people pay to each other. How well do we listen. This is great Dale, I like the way it flows down the pageGet your tongue out of my mouthlol

sounded like my situation, but in reverse...loved the attitude and the sense of humor you used throughout this piece. it's interesting how it looks from the other side. a little more straightforward than your usual writing, but i like it. you always put a different spin on things, my dear Dale. good job :)

What a sad truth you written about and were able to keep things in perspective with a good sense of humor. Sometimes, a person can get so wrapped up in themselves that they become blind to everything else. Once you're gone, she be saying, "Damn, I wonder what was bothering him? He could've at least talk it over."

Well, the poem's great and the title is a real killer. Add a dog and pick-up and you've got one helluva C/W tune I'm humming it already!

Great stuff keep it coming!
