I must say I was thrilled with the inauguration of our new President... it was a wonderfully historic event but I was a bit disturbed by an event I hear took place before the Ball... all the homeless were rounded up and placed elsewhere.

They believe if we can't see it than it must not really exist. That has been our government thought for years. Let me show this over here so you won't look at what's over there and what we are doing to you behind your back. Our government is as shade a crooked as any other countries that they claim to be trying to stop. But we the majority of people would rather look away than to see the real issues we are left with something like we have today. A country of individual that seem to not give a crap about anything but themselves. It is up to people like us to show these scenes and hopeful open a few people eyes at a time in order to really make some change in the world.
Keep up the fight
Brothers in arms to the very end
This is an interesting piece. Your comparative use offers a strong visual. If the government was really concerned about the poor, they would have taken some of that 70 million dollar hoopla and made a faith statement for us people in which to believe. By attempting to put those homeless people in a program to be able to provide for themselves in the future. Granted not all homeless are going to be able to better themselves with help, but there are those that are just down on their luck and need the support. It is ludicrous to me to spend all that money on fluff and stuff when the average American is pinching pennies just to survive. Truly, the government acts like it has a money tree grove growing in back of the White House.
i DON'T really pay attention to government or those kinds of things. all i know is i voted for Obama, and have supported him since. lol. but you are right, life isn't always perfect, and we do hide the truth. and i see that in people daily, fake people who hide who they really are. anyway, i like the way you wrote the poem, very poetically and it was clever too. just the subject nature wasn't as interesting to me.
Out of sight and out of mind I guess. Nice piece that brings home so many of the things that are like a "Raggady Annie". They say it is the governments thought on things, but if everyone was honest it is how most people think, even if they wouldn't admit it. XX
Oh yes, and so much more! Do you know that 70 million dollars of taxpayer money was allocated for Homeland Security to control the crowds! That's right 70 million - 55 million more than was allocated! I understand that protection was needed for this historic event, but when we are in the midst of a financial crisis, people are forced out of their homes, denied credit from banks that are fattened with a 750 billion dollar bail-out, (and no credible accountability).......well, something's broke, and "it ain't being fixed"...yet.
There is also a big hoo hoo about the grass being resod on The Washington Mall! Call it pork, I call it greased pig!
History has been made and that is wonderful, but please let us not forget as a country about poor souls, like the homeless who were taken away! They should have had front row places at the inaugral ball!
Now, that would have been an America to be proud of!
Interesting write - "Oh, don't get me going", as Molly Shannon from Saturday Night Live so poignantly said!
