Between Heaven and Hell

Between Heaven and Hell

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Innocent red flows like wine

Being savored by silver tongue angels

Summoning the twilight of the Gods

That brings no amazing grace.

Bitter cold winds from the north

Bare false witness to a ring of fire

Keep your brimstone faith warm

To those finding comfort down south.

The walls of Jericho provide isolation

To the shadow of death in turmoil

Over eternal rights of victims denied

Fearing he will reap what he sows.

Now comes the time for sacrificial rites

As the temptation becomes the master key

To bringing salvation to the offspring

You used to give the devil his due.

It always intrigues me when I read somthing of this topic
the fine lines between good and bad.. what I also found
interesting was you refer to The bitter colds from up NORTH
and Finding comfort down SOUTH
funny I would have reversed it!! lol,, It's your poem lol but
Idk,, heaven up NORTH
hell down south lol

great poem,, I like when I read something and it makes me think...

... um.... what? I'm confused.

I think this would be a much better write if you first thought of your point, then focus on bringing the reader to it. As it stands now, I just find myself scratching my head.

Is this promoting, or cursing, the devil and all of his wiles?

I've seen much better writings from you, Dale. Keep up the work and stay focused. Overall, you're an excellent poet.

Kudos!

wow. this is a very interesting poem. you've managed to reanimate the dead concept of transcendence in such a very refreshing way.

this is very powerful in a way that it is not overbearing. it moves as gracefully as the wind but hits your hard in the face.

I like how you provide a fresh and unorthodox view on the idea of heaven without being hackneyed.

well, done! this is an excellent piece of work!

this goes straight to my favorites.

Such powerful imagery, capturing the eternal essence of good and evil... Masterfully done, and the top write of the day, I noticed!

I smell the essence of carma all over this piece. And I love the bit of the angets drinking blood. Not many know that angels aren't the goody two shoes as some believe. They are actually souless beings with no emotion, like a nuetral person. They dont care what they do until the job is done. And loved seeing that mental picture of white creatures just having blood oozing from their cold lips. What people do does happen back to them. I had to read this poem a couple of times to understand it, because of all the imagry and things you put in it. This would be a type of poem they would put in a college exam it's that deep. Well penned my friend, well penned indeed!

wow cowboy, this is another fantastic piece by you with a very powerful message. The voice is strong and it flowed beautifully. I absolutely love the entire piece, but the first stanza is my favorite. Awesome write!!

The blackbird said it best and Serendipity said it best. Don't do something that you woulsnt want done back to you because in the end is usually does come back around and bite you in the a*s.

What a great write! Your imagery is potent, and I loved the way you say "fearing he will reap what he sows." It gives a new dimension to the character portrayed, showing that he knows what act he's committing is wrong or harmful. Great job with this!
