Heaven Tonight

Heaven Tonight

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Silently I stand… Mesmerized

By the vision that holds my heart.

Watching the crackling embers

Softly bringing out the glow

In those baby-blue eyes

Sincere… like I was looking into a clear sky.

As I close in the distance

Till we are as close…as our hearts

Remember nothing could be closer…

I study every feature of her face

That illuminates my existence

Like a full moon captures the midnight sky.

As I hand her a delightful cup

Of steaming chocolate bliss

Our hands brush … like a feather

That single touch, so quick...

Like a New York minute

Yet the heat from the candle of her humanity

Melts the abuse Jack Frost has placed upon my flesh.

Cradled together I feel…

As cozy as an infant,

Hearing the rock-a-bye song.

Mild conversation…

Every word she says…

Is intellectual stimulation…

Foreplay in my mind…

Leaving my thoughts breathless,

With out the need to catch it.

Sitting here now I wonder,

If I really died the day we met...

Or was I revived?

It's plain to see I’m in heaven tonight

Because I never felt more alive.

Sigh, Why did this have to end? It's just like drinking hot chocolate as well. When you get to the every last of it, and you savor up the last sip, you wish you had more. This was super yummy and heart warming on a cold Canadian winter day!

This is one of the most LOVE filled poems I have read.
(and I read a lot)
I could feel what you were experiencing! It was so sincere...
watching you accept that loving feeling-I can't find the words,
but you did
in this poem.
"As I close in the distance
Till we are as closeas our hearts"
every thought expressed-I could vividly remember
who made me feel that way, and how...
This poem will be a favorite of mine-Thank you.

...wow. Left me speechless, but I still need to tell you just how perfect this piece is. Every metaphor, simile, or really, every device used, was used in such a way, that it fit the mood astoundingly. I still have imagery from the "delightful cup Of steaming chocolate bliss" and many other lines. This is a must read for all writers and readers. Love this piece!

This is the first time I have ever seen a referrence to humanity being described as the heat from a candle and in conjunction with Jack frost being referred to as abusive is unmatched here in terms of imagery; exceptionally effective. Even in the event that underlying tones of sarcasm may be evident, the event does not deter from the affect the entire piece has on the reader: of warming the soul of the person standing next to you in whatever way works for the individual is monumentally more important than the words that ever describe the heat between the indviduals involved in the experience. This piece reveals to me a deep intellectual subtone that I find a precious rarity as the signature of your style. Fascinating write.

Dale, it's nice to see this soft, lovely side of you. It turned out wonderfully. Such a pretty write. And I agree with J, why did it have to end. You should write more like this. :)

Amber did a fantastic job. It is very readable, not wordy, and has such a gentle innocent feel to it. Good work, Dale.. Rain..

You captured every emotion that every person has either felt or wishes to feel. It's not just the physical attraction but it's part of it (I study every feature of her face that illuminates my existance.) But it's also the mind, the...soul of the person. (Every word she says Is intellectual stimulation Foreplay in my mind Leaving my thoughts breathless, With out the need to catch it.) I believe that these are my favorite lines in the entire poem. Very nicely written.
