The Joy And Meaning (Of Christmas)

The Joy And Meaning (Of Christmas)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Play ring around the rosie

Circling the happy chubby snowman

In the spirit of holiday glee.

All fall down to make

Snow angels on the ground

In honor of those with us in spirit.

Let the chill of old man winter

Help remind us how precious it is

To have a roof over our heads.

Admire the holiday lights blinking

Reminding us that humanity

Is full of bright colors around the world.

Take the time to enjoy the merriment

Of fun and pleasure that Santa Claus brings

But lets not forget the true meaning

And those with no chimneys

To hang their stockings.

I really really really liked how you took essential and universal elements of Christmas and applied them to the world. You kept the real meaning behind the song "Ring around the rosie" and that made this piece all the more deep, also.
The line "Let the chill of old man winter" gave this the jovial quality it needs to express the happiness Christmas brings but also the effects it has on the homeless.
I also found it interesting that you used "no chimneys to hang their stockings" because stockings aren't hung on chimneys but on mantles or fireplaces. Again, you are bringing in the element of those without homes to hang their hopes in the season. Beautiful poem! :)

This is a nice nostalgic piece. While reading this poem, I was taken back to my childhood, remembering the fun I had playing in the snow with my two brothers.

I am not a christan..neither do i celebrate X-mas...but this piece has so beautifully described the spirit of X-mas...I feel blessed to be a part of a world that has so many dimensions and colors to it... X-mas being one of them...
i would love to be a part of your X-mas celebrations if you add on some rok n roll to it, cowboy...
a delightful read!
