This Moment

This Moment

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

When you looked me in the eyes

As those clouds of baby blue

Rained down on sensitive skin

That radiates like the sun

From the beat of your heart.

As I held that umbrella

To shield you from the storm of hate

I actually felt like Atlas.

And in this moment

I finally became real

When I touched your skin

With my working mans hands

So dirty and rough

From a day out in the grind

You didn’t even flinch

Suddenly all the aches and pains

Of everyday living felt like

Sensations of a heaven’s breeze.

It was in this moment

I knew you were real.

When a closet full of

Jealous bones buried us

We still held hands

Laying six feet deep

As our hearts kept beating

Till the graveyard could

No longer keep us down

And the tombstone read…

“From this moment on these two are real”

Wow Dale this is just so amazingly beautiful. I could cry because this poem has just touched me too much. How many of us feel unreal or unworthy in this world? To find that special someone who can wash all of those bad feelings away, that's my definition of being blessed and at the core of what real friendship, love and acceptance truly are.

Hey there Dale, this was lovely... she is in your thought engrossed, absorbing all your attention. Promptings of the sensual self in second stanza were by spiritual self subdued through this promise of keeping love beyond beyond.

Wow, for a name like Rock and Roll Cowboy, that was fantastically beautiful. It was heartfelt, real, and sincerely, truly wonderful. Deep, it was, but it had a lot of meaning. Definitely for people with low self esteem. It will lift you up! I appreciate this piece.

Deep, and beautiful, and profound... What an insightful, emotional write that vividly conveys life as two coming alive together...

Dale, your poems have a way of touching me deeply, because you write so beautifully of things we can all relate to. When we love and are loved in return we do come alive, it is as you say " we become real". It's like up to that point we have merely been existing. " We're nobody, till somebody loves us ".

Sorry it has taken me awhile reading this. I have been quite busy .
This is a beautifully written poem that I believe so many can relate to.
