Killing The Void

Killing The Void

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Golden comfort flows

         Down a lonely passage way

With an undercurrent

         To fill this constant canyon.

Drinking The Void away.

Feeling the heat in bed

That is cold to the touch

Numbing the senses

         Substituting the real thing

Sinning the void away

Thinking doesn’t do it

Feeling doesn’t help

So finding cheap solutions

Are needed

To kill the void

Before the void kills me.

Question: Do the cheap solutions actually kill the void or even fill it? Too true that we try to fill the empty voids in our lives whatever they maybe. But do our solutions actually work? Or is the sense of self and the love that comes within after we have the strength to go look and find it that comes within? The realization that we do have love inside for ourselves and for others that fill the void??

Interesting ink Rock and Roll Cowboy.. It has make me think. :)
Introspective ink.. at least for me.

Well written. ;p

Well-written in the down-home eloquence mode.

I wonder what you think of the Zen irony of the Void being a welcome clearing of egoity?

I concur with the Rock 'n' Roll Cowboy's statement that it's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool.

Being a Zen-ish alt rock poet, I can't help but see the irony, and curious as to your response.

In a mirror universe, after a serious night of drinking, one writes: "Voiding the Kill."

I'm a smart-a*s, but I'm a cool smart-a*s. What kinda golden ya drinkin' there, cowboy? Set 'em up, Joe!

Cheerz!

I don't have any words for this. . .

The words are cold and hard and say it all on their own.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD...Darkness pours out of this Dale, I hope you got it off your chest my friend. Nothing fills the void, take it from one who knows. There is always hope to consider? And around the corner? And fish in the sea? Or enjoying the peace and quiet? No?
Me either!!

Dale, This is so sad and so lonely feeling, I hope you aren't really trying to fill the void with alcohol. That only helps until the effect of the drink wears off and then the void is back. And not only is the problem back but you have also created another, a pounding headache and a worse feeling. Fill the void with friends, keep busy, play your guitar and make some beautiful music. And before you know it there will be another filly to occupy your heart and time..

Your poem is beautiful written and in such a way that it brings tears to my eyes.
You're a very gifted writer Dale.

Hugs
Jean

An deep write...caught my attention because I just posted a piece I titled "The Void of Yesterdays". LOL Anyway, I felt very "connected" to this piece as I read, most likely due to the word choice and flow that caused me to read with a certain cadence...nicely written.

Great write, Cowboy. So emotional and I know the void you speak of. Nothing fills it. It is all just temporary solutions to a permanant problem. Thanks for being brave enough to put the words to pen. Excellent job!
