From The Whiskey To The Grey

From The Whiskey To The Grey

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Whiskey memories breathe

down your inflamed throat,

The smell is a welcome relief

to your dying wish.

The corner offers dark sanctuary

from love and pain

allowing you to pass judgment

on those already condemned.

Reluctant veins accept

the pending destruction

that keeps them alive

but hardens the heart.

Spiraling madness becomes the answer

to all those questions unasked

but haunt the soul long enough

to make the spirit gray.

A dark look into the heart of addiction when only madness remains.

This is wonderful making us aware of social plights.
I like poems of this nature and you write them well.
I feel for the people in this poem.
Wonderful job,

There is truly a profound depth in your writing.. taking us all on this journey of pain and loss.. drowned in sorrow and whiskey gray.. This is voiced so eloquently and powerfully, sir.

This is a very deep poem. I think personally the person in the piece is using whiskey as a way of coping with the loss of a love. This poem flows beautifully and the topic is strong following threw till the very end. These two lines stand out to me: The corner offers dark sanctuary from love and pain. Amazing job. can't say that I know the feeling but I felt the emotion from this composition

As long as its not cheap whiskey... they put cheap whiskey in my drinks on Saturday and it made Sunday awful.

Great write. Everything goes down a little easier with whiskey.

i like the round about description here. I love the title also. A great write of the despair as one turns to alcohol allowing it to suck the vibrant color of life out of us.
