Since Humanity Became A Menagerie

Since Humanity Became A Menagerie

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Dawn breaks like fresh eggs

Starting the day off right

Still the chicken gets no credit.

The goat sells her milk

To keep her pride

But the cow can’t give hers away.

The horse can’t find the track

To race for its life

While the bull walks down Wall Street.

The fence has been broken

Or maybe left open

Yet the buffalo refuse to roam.

What can I say but life is

Not home sweet home

Since humanity became a menagerie.

Such true metaphors running through this with really precise rhythm, rhyme and flow. From Wall street to Main street this is hitting the nail right on the head. Though it's been like this forever.. the poor just keep toiling while the rich party on..

Taxed heavier... each decade.. can't live off the minimum wage.. when they raise it.. all the prices of everything goes up higher than the wage increase by percentages.. numbers shift and take more from us each time. I still have my dreams.. will keep optimistic with art as an outlet. Should I be angry? I don't know I grew up poor.. I still think I have alot more than people in some other countries.. a roof over my head.. good food.. clean water.. clothing.. sounds simple but I try to just be satisfied with what I have living in such a great country.

Very good read. I enjoyed your "humor" as it were, hmmm Home Sweet Home...what exactly is that anymore? The title and the "message" couldn't have been better. Thanks for another great write. ;)

This poem uses humor to make a very biting observation about society. When the subject is dark -- and the state of humanity right now really is sort of bleak -- it's best to present it comically so we can digest it better. Thanks for this piece. It's unusual and refreshing.

I like this one. It doesn't bode well for humanity that this is where we're headed. I also liked the play on words and imagery. It's a great piece.

That was a deep one. Had to read it twice to get past the whimsical tone, and that makes it all the more fun. Taking it at its face value is just as fun as seeing into its depths. That you've written a piece that can do both simultaneously speaks volumes about how great of a writer you are. Great job man!

this is fantastic. truly wonderful. I adore your style with this one. this is what we need. we need to point the misery what is going on here......your primary subjects here are the intellectual, and economic structures surrounding the concept of " humanity's madness". In examining madness, you point out the way in which civilization interacts with madmen, and attempts to advocate for madmen. you keep it simple, but behind all this is depth, I think you are concerned with describing the structures surrounding madness around us... doesn't matter where in this high tech world we live, America, Europe.. it is always the same. This is brilliantly brought to our consciousness - by simplicity of the poem which let me think far behind words. bravo darlin dale, you make me think!

Very complex and interesting piece here. I like the ideas that this piece put in my head. I think the way you described the animal in a sense that we could relate them to normal everyday people. Made me smile to the core of myself.

Great Job!!!!!

Very lyrical writing. You have an excellent display of higher-concept material here. Nicely done.

The message in this piece is quite powerful... I like all of the metaphors, though I had to stop for a minute between reads (read it three times) before I think I really "got it"...not that that is a bad thing, seeing as how I can be a little slow on the uptake sometimes...LOL

Nicely done.
