Candlelight And Wine

Candlelight And Wine

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

You light the candles

and let the essence of the glow

surround our uninhibited bodies

like the devoted feelings

that protects our hearts.

The beauty of the flames flickers

doesn’t compare to the ecstasy

lit by eternal destiny.

The wax begins to melt

as does our hearts

from unspoken words.

I’ll pop the cork and we can savor

the sweet aroma that is a powerful

as the undying devotion

we selflessly share.

The burgundy liquid flows

in connection with passion

that runs through our fingertips

intoxicating one another’s flesh.

So as the candlelight illuminates

to kindred silhouettes

the wine is a reminder

of our love that gets better with time.

This is such a beautiful, tender scene. I adore it - I wish I were experiencing it right now as a matter of fact. Just a few typo suggestions: In first stanza, protect instead of protects our hearts, 2nd stanza, as powerful instead of a powerful, last stanza, two instead of to kindred. Hope you don't mind the suggestions - would just flow even better that way I think. A lovely poem. One of my favorites.
Light,

So passionately written as one can feel the seductive atmosphere which has been created by two excited lovers. Love the apt comparisons. Well done and Thanks Cowboy.

"the wine is a reminder, of our love that gets better with time."

Ah sigh, this was wonderful! It's very true as well Dale. I love how you managed to relate your love to a bottle of wine that's been sitting for a long period of time. When you finally un-cork it from allowing it to sit and age for a long time, you come to realize that the taste is pure, delicate and very satisfying. The longer you let it sit, the more time, the better it tastes. :) I love this!

You have such a Romantic nature! I suppose it's the little things that spell romance. Candles and wines. Little words that needed saying. Lovely.
