When they arrived at the station the next day they went straight to Arnold’s desk. Michele decided to put the chair on the other side and placed it next to Arnold’s. She sat down as Arnold fired up his computer. “So do you think Parker will bring the employee’s files over?”

Arnold logged into his computer. “If they knew what was good for them they will.” He paused. “I was just thinking that if George did kill Nathaniel for revenge he might go after Parker or Lily next.”

“Wow, I didn’t think of that,” Michele remarked .
“That’s why they say two heads are better than one.” Arnold looked at Michele and smiled.

Michele smiled. and nodded. “I guess so.”

Arnold turned and focussed on his computer. “And if, and when he does we’ll ask him if he has a description on this George fellow, Because he is

nowhere in the system. “It’s like he just dropped off the planet.”

Michele thought a moment. ‘Do you think it’s possible he changed his name?”

Arnold looked at Michele. “ He very well could have. But there is no record of it.”

“Well, what if he’s going under an assumed identity? It’s possible he’s got a fake ID somehow.”

“That’s highly possible.” Arnold pursed his lips. “That’s why we need a description of him. And better yet a photo.”

They looked up to see right on cue Parker walking towards them. He had a bunch of folders in his hand. He got to the desk and dropped them. There you go.” He grumbled and turned to leave and then stopped. He glared at Arnold. “Next time leave my wife out of this.” He turned to leave.

“Wait a minute,” Arnold said forcefully.

Parked stopped and faced them but remained silent.

Arnold walked around the desk. “We also need a picture of George.”

“It’s in the file.” Parked turned to leave.

“Mr. Davidson.”

Parked turned and faced Arnold. “What?”

“I’ve been thinking about this. If George did kill Nathaniel He might be after you next.”

Parker threw his hands in the air. “George is gone. Parker said flatly. Probably died of an overdose by now. You’re wasting your time.” He turned and walked away. This time Arnold didn’t stop him.

Arnold picked up the file. Michele joined him. They went through the files until they found the one for George Sanderstill. They found his job applications and numerous Check stubs. In the middle of it, there was a photograph of him holding a sign that said employee of the month. Arnold picked it up. Michele looked over his shoulder and they both studied it. He was clearly in his Teen years here. Now in his forties, they had to study it closely If they were going to identify him now. Arnold threw

it on the desk. “Well I don’t see any disciplinary forms And one employee of the month. Looks like he was a good worker.”

“Well except for doing drugs and stealing money,” Michele remarked dryly.

Arnold looked at Michele and tilted his head. “Good point.” They both smiled. then Arnold put a serious face on. “ Now. the only problem is how do we track him down.”

“Well, we could put his picture to the media. maybe they can use an age simulator and display it on the news.”

Arnold thought a moment. “that’s not a bad idea.” He paused and tapped his temple.” But then again. He might run when he knows we’re looking for him.”

“Well, then we’re back to square one,” Michele stated in a matter-of-fact tone and walked two steps and faced Arnold giving him a hard stare.

Arnold let out a gust of air and cursed his lips. “You’re right. We have no choice at this point. “ He picked up George’s picture and held it towards

Michele. “Can you take this to channel thirteen news and see if they can run the story tonight?”

Michele snatched it out of his hand. “ Sure thing.” As she walked away Arnold watched her leave. Once she was out of sight his thought went back to George.” Come out, come out wherever you are, Houdini.”
