If My Life Was Metaphorical Entertainment

If My Life Was Metaphorical Entertainment

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Life is not perfect.

And if life were like a song

And when those imperfections seem to be written

In a major key,

I will sing my song

Knowing perfectly well

That I am out of tune,

But at least I’m singing on.

And if life was like Star Wars

And it felt like the sith

Ruled the word

I will become a jedi,

 because I know

The force will always

Be with me.

If life was a comedy club

I will always deliver

The punch line

No matter how many times I’m heckled,

For I will be laughing inside.

In conclusion

I will treat life

Like entertainment

Through the blockbusters and flops

And act out my improved lines

Until god calls a curtain call,

Or rolls the credit.

Even then there is no “the end”.

I have become a old man my friend. My only wealth are my grandchildren. The curtain call will come. What will we leave behind? Nice movement of thoughts. You made the reader ponder and think.

thank you for your kind words
And if my life were a country song, I'd play it backward so I would get my man back, my dog back, my truck back, my job back, and I'd sober up! Just kidding. I don't drink. I love the optimism of this poem. It is a testament to the human spirit, and how important it is not to let circumstances dictate our reality. Thank you for this reminder.

thank you so much for your kind words
It is a wonder to walk through life... yes... every scene and script unfolding... some parts we write... and others are written for us... So well done, my friend.

No end ... until there's a writers strike. The production values in life depend on so many things. God as a director. Your friends as producers. I hope your musical has come in under budget despite the cost of taking the whole production to a galaxy far away.

You are welcome sir.
One thing is for certain ... life goes on. With or without us, failing or succeeding, it goes on. Our perspective determines everything.

I love these lines, especially:

I will sing my song
Knowing perfectly well
That I am out of tune,
But at least I’m singing on.

Until god calls a curtain call,

Even then there is no “the end”.

I sometimes feel like a little piece of a bigger puzzle, and that life is just a game. No matter how it ends, we start over, somewhere, somehow, and get to play again.. Enjoyable read with food for thought. Nice poem =)
