Thoughts From A Park Bench ( At Easter Time)

Thoughts From A Park Bench ( At Easter Time)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I sit and watch
Some of God’s miracles
As they run around searching
For colored eggs;
Enjoying their iinnocence
The first gift they ever received
Thanks to the almighty one’s generosity.
I wonder with a melancholy smile
How long before life breaks
Their precious gift.
Have some of them
Already had it stolen?
Keeping their disappointment
Hidden beneath the beautiful wrapping
It came in.
I begin to ponder why we eventually lose
The one thing that makes us
Feel the freest,
Before we are robbed and chained to
Disappointment…
Heartache…
And lies.
I shed a tear of joy
For how life begins
For all of us,
Then weep like
A rainstorm
For what we lose
On the journey to the afterlife.
I then go about
My business of enjoying
What I still have,
Cherishing all that I love;
Cause I know wholeheartedly
That I am here today
But could be gone tomorrow.

' .. shed a tear of joy ~ For how life begins ~ For all of us, ~ Then weep like ~ A rainstorm ~ For what we lose ~ On the journey .. .. ' What finely created words, feelings, Dale.

How I understand your words because the sound and sight of happy children not only at Easter but at any time makes one laugh too. Wondering at their pleasure in the newness of life.. and its innocence.. ' Modern life has created a childhood that thrives at the screen rather than splashing through puddles, climbing trees, playing silly games WITH siblings or friends. Parents! Priorities have altered. Innocence like fragility is considered weak. Perhaps we should forget tomorrow for selves but somehow keep it safe and special for children all.. and the child that should still be, in us grown ups wishing.. whatever.. So sorry, far too long.

Smiling because you've been saying that for years and each year means more effort!!!
In today's world, children so often grow up too quickly; so many outside influences now, and so difficult to control. But, the light at the end of the tunnel is surely that the vast majority of us retain enough of that innocence, that inner goodness we are gifted from the very beginning, to make us worthy of his love, and our journey through life worthwhile.

Wishing you all the best and God speed, at this very special time of the year.

Beccy.

Innocence, so precious and yet we seem to lose it so early on on life. Children at play, searching for Easter eggs are a joy to behold. Life is so fragile, we must make the most of its very special moments. There aren't enough of them. Happy Easter Dale.

Happy Waster. Christine
Life could be gone tomorrow...we need to hold on to youth as long as we can....innocence leaves us way to early these days.
it is like John Mellencamp sang..."hold onto 16 as long as you can, changes come around make us women and men"---

Very sweet poem. I have never done Easter Hunting as a child and I feel like I missed a lot as a kid
