Forever Touching My Heart

Forever Touching My Heart

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A misty shadow appears

Through blue stained glass

While crystallized memories

As clear as dew on a rose petal

Moistens my cheek.

My lips form words

Longing to be spoken

But my breath fogs the mirror

Somehow my image isn’t the same.

Daydream images flash

Through my head

Of that yellow sundress

Floating in a field of daisies

And that child like smile

That brought the boy out of me.

Now as I lay these orchids at your feet

I can feel the feathers

From your wings touching my heart.

The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
More than 20 years ago my live in girlfriend was struck and killed be a drunk driver on her way home from work. I was out of town with my band playing a show. She died in the hospital before I returned how. To this day the guilt and shame of not being there for her weighs on my heavy heart.

Moistens my cheek
(I think you mean moisten your cheek...as you are talking about the plural ... memories) You know I had to. LOL

This is BEAUTIFUL!!! A clear introspection...and reaching that spot so few of us are willing to truly look at.

Floating in a field of daisies
And that child like smile
That brought the boy out of me.

You know me, there is nothing more pure or gentle than a field of daisies. I love them you know. LOL
Dale, this is wonderful...beautiful...and so touching. 100 daisies for you my dear friend.

Your breathtaking poem has a beauty that is so special--I am unable to take it apart piece by piece. The loveliness and heartfelt feelings are sewn together line by line. What a creation, Dale! Absolutely stunning with a captivating ending.

I actually read this over Kelly's shoulder, and was blown away. This is definitely my favorite piece EVER written by you - this is some of your best, most authentic, heart-filled work to date, my dear Dale. :)

"A misty shadow appears

Moistens my cheek."

I mean - the layers there are incredible. I'm really impressed. the stained glass image works wonderfully, and then the crystallized and then the use of dew.... just fantastic work. and what a wonderful way to imply tears...

"Somehow my image isn't the same."

i like the way you put that - ah, those moments where we look at ourselves and no longer recognize the person.

Daydream images flash
Through my head
Of that yellow sundress
Floating in a field of daisies

That was actually my favorite part of this piece - that's what caught me and made me think "damn, dale... this is your best piece." you really delved deep inside yourself for this, and i, as your reader and friend, appreciate that so much.
And that child like smile

"Now as I lay these orchids at your feet
I can feel the feathers
From your wings touching my heart."

and jeeze louise, what a fantastic ending.

i am BLOWN AWAY.

not even remotely kidding you.

What a beautiful tribute piece.. Just because she's not here, doesn't mean she's forgotten.
Feels a bit like a "preparing to move on" piece. Mourn the loss but don't stay living in memories. A life lived to the full is the best tribute to her.
Thanks for sharing this very tender piece Dale.

This is amazing. It made my jaw drop open at the end because of the beauty.

I love your descriptions at the end, I really could feel the emotion behind your words and see the images that you've described. Everything feels crystal-blue in this piece with lots of mist ... I love that effect.
