Tattoos, and scars . . . hmmm . . . this could be a song. Seriously.
I love how you compare the two. One out of choice, the other, sadly, not. But both do make up who we are, and by transforming the pain into a lesson of learning, rather than hurting, forever, then all was not lost.
Scars that are produced by life. All maybe of choice if we choose to be in the wrong place and the wrong time. Good subject and written with great expertist.
I've always found tatooing as an outlet for emotional pain. Somehow, it makes me feel more alive when I can withstand the physical pain, as opposed to the mental.
OH yes. I, too, have both...two by choice, and the others....well, we all have a choice. We can dwell on those that others inflict or we can use them to educate ourselves. You...are clearly the latter much more than the former. Those like you and I, we learn to make those scars a part of who we are...and learn to love them as a part of ourselves.
Dale, I see you growing and looking inward much more lately...and I think that you are showing your true beauty. A rarity in today's society where men are taught to keep their truth...their inner core...to themselves. BRAVO...
I can relate. I too wish those scarring things had never happened. Some scars on the body can actually be crippling and can impede physical activity if they're too severe. Scars of the heart can do the same emotionally and mentally. And people who say they don't are full of s**t! There's my two cents. LOL!
i have scars and tats. some times i wish i could cover the scars with the tats but it would be hard to cover your heart. the tattoos remind me of who i am today. at one point i did love the ones who gave me the scars but now they are just memories...wanting to be erased. this was a good write. i enjoyed reading this. thank you for sharing...
"One are reminders
Of the great things
I'll never forget
The other are results
Of things I wish
Never happened."
I don't have any tats.... yet,
but I have a lifetime full of scars, much like everyone else, though I don't know that I wish the circumstances which caused the scars never happened. They are part of what made me the person who I am today. Now, I don't know if that's a good thing or not...LOL! But it is what it is.
Most of the people who caused the scars, I loved at one time. And I don't regret moments of love. Ever.
No regrets.... only lessons.
Scars fade.
Very nicely done cowboy... clear and powerful message. :)
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
