The Ghost To Heartbreaks End

The Ghost To Heartbreaks End

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Just trying something a little different.

"

Darkness makes it hard to see

what’s right before your eyes

Hold onto your heart

as the stairs creek in vain.

Wet footprints lead to a door

of a room you’ve never seen.

Frozen knob is the doors lock

but heat from the hand is just enough

to unlock it.

The room is half full of light

while the other hides in shadow.

Pictures of his girl fills the room

except for one that stands alone

of one he knows so well

but can’t imagine why it would be in here.

A pale face stranger appears from nowhere

but no fear seems to follow.

“What… what do you want?”

Curiosity got his tongue.

“Why it’s quite simple,

I want you to break the chains

that don’t exist.”

“Excuse me,” Replied the man.

“I don’t understand.”

The white shadow looked confused

and just shook its head,

“I want you to love before it’s too late.”

“Not that it’s any of your business

but I already am”

~Sigh~

“The living just can’t see I guess.”

And into the shadows it went.

Thump, thump, thump!!

“Oh what a strange dream,

dang my poor head.”

Thump, thump, thump!!

“There’s that pounding again,

why do I drink like that?”

Thump, thump, thump!!

“Ok I’m coming!!”

He hit the floor running.

“Hey baby that was some party,”

said his lady as she slipped in uninvited.

“Honey it’s too early.”

Trying to shield his eyes from the light

till that blonde haired angel was in site

washing her car she waved and smiled.

The light shined on her just like it did

on her picture last night.

SLAM!!

“What are you staring at?”

Her eyes burned a hole through his heart.

“I hate that little miss look at me,

I’m always so sweet.”

Looking in her cold eyes his thoughts

finally connected with his heart,

“Sorry but I think we’re through

cause I’ve got better things to do.”

Out the door he flew

In PJ’s and bare feet

he crossed the street

thanking the pale face stranger

for helping him see the true color of love.

This is really interesting and different. I like it. This kind of reminds me of the story of Scrooge, yet not. Same concept only there is only one ghost and it appears to be the ghost of love present and future. "I want you to love before it's too late". I think many people have been caught up in a loveless relationship when the right one comes along and because of that, lose out on possible true love because they don't know how to let go of the person they're with, even when that person is not exactly "sweet". Blinded.

It's hard to belong to someone else when the right one comes along... (unless you're this guy -- he didn't even get dressed first. LOL)

Great job doll! I really enjoyed this.

I love it! Very nicely done. Very much your style. It reads like one of your shorts which always have a fantastic twist at the end. I like the human feel to it...the ability to err and to correct that error before it is too late. 100 peaches!

This is a different poem, and nicely executed. the absence of pronoun use really makes the first few stanzas dream like and mystique. The intervention of the stranger is nicely crafted with interesting dialogue.

This is pretty good. I liked how it tells a story. I think the ghost telling the guy to love before its to late was great. The ending was a surprise. Great work!
