This is virtually an oath of allegiance, it displays unselfishness and loyalty in a very powerful yet straightforward way. Then, the reader reaches those final three lines and knows that what came before is leading up to the deep feelings of: 'I will bleed for you / even if in return / your blood runs cold for me'
It's a mix of sadness and strength. Thank you for sharing this post.
I believe this poem is filled with emotional conviction. You strip away all things to expose the core of your love and honor for everything that you stand for. I think there's a Bible verse that goes something like, 'true love are from those who lay down their lives for their brethren'. The last stanza provides a finality of honor.
"I will bleed for you
even if in return
your blood runs cold for me." ~ Now that's the ultimate sacrifice, almost Godly.

This is the most strongest writing I ever read in so long. I mean, I've read all kind of scarifices for the loved ones, but you've written it as a scarifice for anything, which I've always admired that the most in people who are like that. It's almost like reading a personal note from the solider who would die for our country, our freedom, and such. Kind of reminded me of my Grandfather (who was in WW2) and my Uncle (who was in 'nam) in several ways. Yet, they didn't died for us, instead they fought and lived for us as well...
Sorry for rambling, just felt the need to express some, you know? Anyway, it's a real great piece you've created there and you now have my total respect for your duty as a simple, but honorable man...
Dale, I have tears in my eyes with this one. It is a fabulous poem and like Starrynight Poet I honestly believe this is you. From everything I have read of yours this is you.
I don't like pushing Bible on anyone but this so reminds me of a verse at John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Very powerful message . This is absolutely my most favorite so far of yours.
Thank you for sharing.
